What time do most hotel shuttles run?

I'd love to stay within walking distance, but the hotels across the street look more dated, so we'll probably end up at a hotel and use a shuttle or drive ourselves. What time do the hotel shuttles start in the morning? And what is the difference between ART and a hotel shuttle?

The shuttles we have used usually run 30 minutes before & after the park closes.

ART is the main shuttle to DLR. Very, very FEW hotels have their own shuttles (maybe, 2.). It is really nice to be within (real) walking distance, even if the properties seem "older" or "dated". Many of them are fine, clean and comfy.

I normally don't stay at a hotel, but it was nice staying right across the street last night. I stayed at the Ramada Main Gate because my wife was afraid that I would fall asleep on the way home. The room was simple but clean. It was great walking across the street to Disneyland! If you are going to Disneyland, and you can't afford a Disney hotel, I would suggest staying within walking distance as well.

ART is not a hotel shuttle, it is run by the county. A day pass is $5 or $12 for 3 days. It usually begins an hour before park opening (including Magic Morning early days). It only services hotels and the park. Each hotel has a route number, and when you exit at Disneyland, that is the numbered stop you wait at. For example, the route for La Quinta/Extended Stay is #8. Motel 6 is #9, I think.

As a big city girl, I find the system very simple, running about every 20 minutes. Those uncomfortable with public transit may be uncomfortable. The shuttles are clean and modern. They can fill up at closing time, however.

Only a few hotels have their own. I think Hyatt Regency does and possibly Sheraton.

The Sheraton on Ball Rd. had it's own shuttle when I stayed there a handful of times between 2005-2007.

I really do recommend the ramada Maingate, the candy cane inn, or the Howard Johnson. Staying within walking distance is a huge advantage. It allows u to go back to ur room if u want a sweatshirt or to take a nap and not be every inconvienenced. Those 3 hotels although not extravagant, are definitely not run down. The shuttle costs a lot of money for a family and everything nice about a hotel further away is counteracted by riding on a ugly nasty bus. That's my opinion though. However if u stay at the convention center hotels or the red lion u can walk across the street and take the toy story lot shuttle

Candy Cane Inn has its own shuttle even though it is in EASY walking distance (less than 10 minutes) on the same side of Harbor as the entrance to the parks. As others have said, Candy Cane is very nice....clean, comfy, great management, decent breakfast and you have the option of a free shuttle. The convenience of walking distance is NOT to be underestimated!

Uh, I have NEVER seen a dirty ART shuttle. Have you??? Orange County isn't the Bronx or East Oakland.

Perhaps a chauffeured limo is more to your liking...
:rotfl2:

I haven't seen, nor have been on a dirty ART or OCTA bus. Or dirty Karmel Shuttle or OC Taxi cab.

Oops, forgot to add no stinking, nasty Toy Story bus either, have I seen, or been a passenger of. :)

I agree! It's nice to have the option to walk or take the shuttle to/from the Candy Cane Inn.

I've never seen a dirty Super Shuttle or Karmel, but I had a pretty gross cab from Long Beach Airport.

My experiences with ART, since I first rode it in '99, have never been poor in any way.

:faint: That was Long Beach. Lol

AFAIK there are just 3 hotels that run their own private shuttles.

Candy Cane Inn
Hyatt Regency
Sheraton Anaheim (no to be confused with Sheraton park)

The rest of the hotels rely on the ART bus system. I've tried ART once and it was fine. The buses were clean and well maintained.

What I didn't like about ART is that the buses may not have room when everyone wants to board at the same time like after fireworks.
And on ART you'll stop at many other hotels before getting to your destination.

We just returned, and stayed at Homewood Suites. We normally stay there or Hilton Garden Inn. They have a shuttle that is run by PCA Management, not ART. Hotels also included in that are Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Crowne Plaza, Marriott Suites. There may be more. For a 3 day pass, they are $5 for kids, $12 for adults. They leave the hotels at 15 and 45 past the hour, and leave Disneyland at the top and bottom of the hour. We've taken this shuttle for a few years now and have never had an issue. They also start 45 minutes before opening, so for example, if the park opens at 9, but has a Magic Morning, the first pickup would be at 7:15.

Is there a fee to take the Toy Story Shuttle?
