What they did for our special event....

First let me start by saying I have never ever expected anything for free and what happened with my trip was a total surprise. It was my parent's 40th wedding anniversary and I contacted the California Grill to arrange for a special cake, they put me in touch with private dining and I ordered a medium sized white chocolate celebration cake which they would ice with a special greeting specified by myself, I gave my credit card details and they said they would take payment, they never did - our server brought the cake up with some candles all lit up and wished them happy anniversary, but no payment was ever taken. The second thing I did was arrange for a 'surprise' at the Yachtsman, again I gave my credit card details and asked them to charge my card - we were treated like royalty that night and when we came to order desert they brought up a white chocolate mickey on the desert sampler, the plate was iced with the words 'Happy 40th Anniversary' - they didn't take any form of payment, even though I insisted they did. Such a nice gesture by both restaurants and totally unexpected.

we've been lucky and have gotten quiet a few special surprises. we go on or around my birthday alot.
1 - California grill - perfect window seat and chocolate cake with Happy Birthday sign.
2 - Boma - birthday cupcake
3 - Chef de France - free dessert (we hadnt mentioned anything here - the server saw my button on my jacket on the back of the chair)
4 - Prime Time cafe - cupcake and singing
5 - Donalds Breakfast - had to go up in front of everyone and they all sang and then got a card signed by all the characters.
6- Prime Time cafe for my nephews birthday - brought a cupcake and made the tables around him sing happy birthday
7 - Artist point for my parents anniversary - Personalized menue - decorated free cobbler and then they gave my mom the recipies for what she had (mushroom soup and salmon) and even the cedar planks for the salmon
8 - AKL sent a card and balloons for my mom and dads anniversary

My daughter and I celebrated her 6th birthday at tea at the Garden View Lounge. It was delightful. Our server, made a point of calling Olivia, "princess", and treating her very grown up. They brought her a birthday crown, which was really pretty, and a cupcake with sprinkles and a candle, and announced to the whole restaurant that it was her birthday and everyone sang Happy Birthday to her. It is one of the highlights of many trips to Disney.

Well, when we went during my son's b-day he wanted to eat at Chef Mickey's for breakfast and goofy brought over a cupcake and everyone sang Happy Birthday. Also, after leaving Chef Mickey's on our way to wait for the monorail, the CM that was there noticed DS birthday badge and had everyone in line waiting for the monorail sing Happy Birthday . . .which was very nice!

This past October just DH and I went to celebrate our Anniversary and had dinner at the California Grill. I checked in early and requested a table by the window (which was granted) and OMG what a view of the MK and Wishes, it was very very special . . .our server knew it was our Anniversary and she brought over a piece of chocolate cake with Happy Anniversary on it. I thought the whole evening was very special. :flower:

Do you think they would do anything for an "unoffical" family reunion? (By unoffical I mean that it is NOT going to be a Grand Gathering, yet will still be a family reunion for a friend and her family) :grouphug:

I almost hesitate to tell ours, because I'm not sure if our magic happened accidentally or not. We went to Citricos for my DH's birthday. I called the GF Bakery about a week ahead of time and special ordered a cake for him. I chose the cake, icing, filling, decoration, etc. I also special ordered the Cinderella Slipper dessert because I knew my daughter would love it. (Actually, I would love it, but that's a different story!) Anyway, the bakery quoted me the price for the cake and dessert when I placed the order. About 2-3 days before his birthday, Citricos called me and wanted the spelling of my husband's name. They didn't tell me why and I didn't ask. The evening we went to the restaurant and I gave our name, the hostess immediately knew who we were. She got our menus and led us to our table. As soon as we looked at the menu, we noticed that each menu had been personalized with the date and said Happy Birthday along with my husband's name. So, that's why they wanted the spelling of his name! We ordered our dinner as well as a couple glasses of wine. After dinner (which was delish by the way), a group of maybe 6-8 waiters/waitresses brought out the cake (which was lit) and the slipper dessert and all sang happy birthday to my hubby. I don't think he liked the attention he was getting. LOL! The magic, or accidental part, I'm not sure which was when we got the check. Again, Happy Birthday was written across the check, but nowhere on it was there a charge for either the wine, the cake or the slipper dessert. Accidental? Maybe.... I prefer to think of it as a lot of Disney magic and pixie dust! :wizard:

When we were at Cindy's over our trip, a fella at the next table proposed to his girlfriend (he had her parents at the table too).

My boyfriend and I were deep in conversation, so we actually missed all of it until the whole room started clapping...lol.

The fella had ordered her the "slipper special treat" and when it came out, it wasn't chocolate, but one of the crystal slippers from main street with an engagement ring on a satin pillow next to it. To keep it an honest dessert, there were strawberrys and chocolates all around the plate. Cinderella came by to congratulate the happy couple. And the place provided a chocolate cake to the table for free... Very cool.

I told my boyfriend, "That's so sweet - A girl loves to get jewelry with her dessert..." He said, "Well, unfortunately tonight you'll only have creme brulee, but I'll treat you to something special outside." Sure enough - He picked me up a blinky necklace (I'm a sucker for blinky things and would easily pass up more expensive items for something that lights up), and I felt like I got special jewelry too. (lol)

I had my 40th BD at California Grill... during dinner the manager of the restaurant came to our table and asked who's BD it was. He shook my hand and wished me all the best.

For my dad's 55th birthday in the World all he wanted was to go to a character breakfast. When I made our ADRs for the Crystal Palace I mentioned it was his birthday. When we got there our table was covered in streamers and at the end of the meal the brought him a cupcake with a candle and a card signed by Pooh and his friends.

Throughout the day it was completely magical. The CM at Test Track gave him the official CM book they got when Test Track opened, the crew of Star Tours gave him a birthday card and then got our whole "space vehicle" to sing to their "new friend Dan."

He still contests that it was the best birthday he has ever had. :teeth: :wizard:

I have a couple of things (one is from the cruiseline, which may not be what you're looking for)...

We celebrated our honeymoon at POR (then Dixie Landings) - but it was 5 months after our wedding, so we didn't think to say anything. When we returned there the following year to celebrate our first anniversary, the CM at check-in was very chatty. Somehow the topic of our honeymoon/now anniversary came up. It was a focus of the conversation or anything. Just in conversation.

That night - when we returned from the parks, we had a lovely gift basket full of fruits and snacks in our room with a Mickey balloon and nice card from the resort staff. We were really surprised! :goodvibes

A little over a year ago, we took a short (3 night) DCL cruise. DCL makes a real effort to seat people who are "alike" at the table for dinner. We ended up at a table of 4 couples/no kids, all in the same 40-60 age range. It was perfect. Our group really connected and were often the last ones to leave the dining room. Our server joked the first night that we must all be honeymooners since we were so "young" and obviously "in love." We all got a kick out of that. The next night, we arrived to find that our table had been fully decorated with honeymoon "stuff," we each had a button/pin that said "I'm on my honeymoon!," and, following dinner, we split a "Happy Honeymoon" cake! It was so great - because it was not ASKED for and really not even appropriate. Just a blast! :goodvibes

We were seated at a lovely table near the window at Cali. Grille for our Anniversary. No extras but it was special for us anyway!

On our honeymoon last year, all dining reservations did note we were on our honeymoon. In the two weeks we were there, we got some magic three times! Definitely didn't expect anything (at the time, I didn't even know things like this happened!). First experience was at CRT, we got the best seat in the house (which I think must be reserved for honeymooners, because we heard from a family sitting close by another set was there before us). The middle seat right in front of stained glass windows looking at Fantasyland. Our server wasn't really enthusiastic or that great but did give us the complimentary champagne flutes. BUT the best part was the princesses, they made a big fuss about us. The second experience was at WCC at WL. Our waiter was hysterical told the whole restaurant we were on our honeymoon and made everyone congratulate us. And we got free champagne! And finally at Hoop Dee Do, again got best table, directly in front of center stage, and the performers and waiter made a fuss. Most of the restaurants didn't even mention anything, but that was okay as we weren't expecting it and DH was started to get embarassed!

We have dined at the Yachtsman Steakhouse on our last 2 anniversaries. They gave us a free dessert sampler with cookies and chocolate both times, and last time they also gave me a long stem red rose.

I have also dined at Kona Cafe on my birthday. My mother had called ahead and ordered a cake from the bakery, gave my PS number, date, and time, her credit card number etc... I didnt know about this but by the time dinner was over and the waitress brought the check, DH was panicking, LOL! He finally had to tell me and the waitress. So after she went back looking for this cake order, she found no record of it. Instead she brought out this gorgeous cake with tropical flowers on it. They never charged my mothers credit card for that. :goodvibes

Ohana made no mention of DH's birthday.

We dined at Artist Point on our 4th Anniversary. I had mentioned it when making our ADR's but nothing really happened during dinner. My DD (3) told our server in a conversation (the server commented on her wonderful manners) that she HAD to bee good cause it was her Mommy's and Daddy's getiing married birthday. So our server told us Happy Birthday wink, wink and said she'd be right back with DD's dessert. We hadn't ordered any but she immediately came back with 2 glasses of champagne aned an order of the Berry cobbler, with compliments from the entire staff. Shortly thereafter the chef came out and asked how we liked our suprise. I thanked him and told him honestly it was the best cobbler I have ever had. He replied "I put a little extra magic into it just for you, so I 'm glad you enjoyed it so much!" Oh, and the resort staff at ALSMO sent me a baloon and a card signed form Prince Charming and Cinderella , after DD reminded them. So, very nice if something happens but I wouldn't count on it.

Nothing for my parents wedding aniversary.

Nothing for my birthday in four trips.

When magic happens, its really special....but don't go counting on magic.

my fiance's cousin celebrated his birthday while in Disney. he turned 21 and we......for some idiotic reason....went to the Whispering Canyon Cafe. anyway, all of the kids get up at certain times during the dinner and ride around the restaurant on little stick horses you know "oh how cute!". anyway, when the CM's found out it was cousin's birthday.....they made HIM ride around the restaurant on a stick horse singing "Happy Birthday to Me"......the funniest thing you've ever seen. we have footage of this as well.

We celebrated our 20th anniversary with the 3 kids and my DM at POFQ in 1997. The family gave us cards and a personalised photograph frame in the morning which we displayed on the window ledge. When we got back from the park that evening there was a Mickey and friends photograph frame all beautifully wrapped and a card signed by them "from your friends at WDW".

I hadn't mentioned it to anyone so we were REALLY touched. Needless to say Mousekeeping got an extra special tip next day.
