Just heard from Mousetimes.com's podcast audio from Finding Nemo the Musical that we can'rt VIDEO TAPE!!!!!!!!!! I am so.......... well I really can't say it but I'm really ticked off!!!!!! Why can't we video tape it. I know for the saftey of the performers, but what if I don't use my light??????? I NEED TO VIDEO TAPE THIS!!!!!!!

What are your views on this?

It might be for copyright laws...this could be a show that somewhere down the line would be sold for a theatre to do (keep in mind just a geuss as I have not seen the show and am not aware of its context.) Im sure this is a professional quality show...you cant video tape Broadway shows. Also, you could turn this negative thought into something posative...think of how special this show will seem when you can ONLY watch it when your in Disney World! I wouldnt worry Im sure youll have plenty of other tape to entertain you at home!

I think if they did a performance in the middle of a city park or otherwise out in public, then people could videotape to their hearts' content. On private property, in their own theatres, I think Disney gets to make their own rules.

not so sure why you so desperately NEED to tape this... :confused3 but it's a new show so they probably don't want people to just be able to view it on youtube... they want people to come to the park to see it... also I don't know if it officially open yet so obviously they wouldn't want people videotaping in a "soft open" mode... in the even they decide to change aspects of it... in the end like msbrooks said.. their property, their rules.. I for one am happy to abide :thumbsup2

I agree, also with the Cirque du Soleil shows, no videoing as well... nor pics with or without flash.

Sorry - OT
Jordancej where did you get your avatar? My mom would die - they are her faves!

It may be no taping during the preview period.

Another possibility is it is against the rule for the actors union.

We go to a local Renaissance Faire and some shows you are allowed to take pictures and some you are not. The ones that you are not, the performers are part of an Actors Equity Guild.

I am guessing this is just during the preview period as I don't think there are any other live shows at Disney that do not permit taping.

I'm glad. Every show I have ever tried to watch at WDW is usually ruined by someone with a video camera with a viewscreen standing in front of me. Quite frankly, I'm glad they are doing this. Maybe people will just sit back and enjoy the moment now.

Disney has the same policy on board their cruise ships not that people follow the rules but i'm glad they are doing it elsewhere as a previous poster said when your trying to watch a show its distracting to have a person's video camera distracting you.

Copyright laws, actor unions, and safety are my guesses as to why! dont care as to why just glad they are!

Why do you feel that you need to video tape that show, or any show for that matter? As another poster said, you can't take pictures of a Broadway show, so why should you be able to tape a Disney show?

And what do you plan to do with the tape, if you do tape it? If you make it available to the public you could be in hot water for sure because of copyright laws. If you just use it for home showing, you would probably watch it once or twice and stick it in a shelf somewhere, soon to be forgotten. Why bother?

Enjoy the show. I bet it'll be a good one, and I wouldn't be too surprised to see it on Broadway sometime in the future.

Enjoy.
