What the heck is up with some people?

i just remembered a funny thing that happened to me the other day! i had just dropped kids off at school and was on the phone with my mom. i was sitting at a red light and cars behind me were honking for me to go. i looked up and the light was still red, so i stayed. well 3 cars went around me, on both the left and right, right through the red light! still i sat......
so i'm yacking away to my mom about christmas stuff. and realize it HAS been a long red light. i wondered if the honking was because i sat through my green light, but i didn't think so. so anyways, i start to try to keep a better eye on the light and it never turned green! just kept skipping us! i finally went through it and looked at what time i had called my mom, to see how long i had been sitting there. IT WAS OVER 13 MINUTES!!!!!! :rolleyes1 no wonder there was such a long line of angry drivers behind me!!!!
i then put the phone away!!! :lmao:

Dear God Daughter (DGD) worked at Toys-r-Us when she was in college. Of course she had to work Black Friday. She got up at around 2ish and left. The parking lot was full when she arrived and there was a line of people. She walked up to the door and a man said "Hey, the line starts back there." She flashed her badge (under her jacket) and got a cordial "Oh. Sorry. You have a good Christmas."

They got the store ready, had a little pep session and when it was time for the doors to open, they went to unlock the doors. At this point a woman got out of her car and headed to the front of the line. The man stopped her with his usual spiel.

The woman informed the man that she'd been there since midnight before the line started. (It's only about 45 - 50 degrees outside. Not too cold to stand outside.) Nooooo. Says the line leader. You have to be IN the line, not IN your car.

At this point, this dear woman started screaming racism. Line leader was White and she was Black. DGD and her co-workers watched in amazement. About 50% of the line was Black and they, of course, came to line leader's defense and were P.O'd at this woman in extremis. The other 50% of the line that was White were fighting mad at being called racist. Line-cutting woman got violent. DGD and her co-workers called 911, and some deputies from one parking lot over (at Wal-Mart) got there post-haste. Line-cutter was escorted out in a police car after being pretty much hog-tied. She was still crying racism and hate crime and had assaulted not only her fellow shoppers but the deputies!

At this point, TRU was opened and everyone entered in their original order. It was actually a fairly calm opening, b/c, having been united against crazy line cutter, the shoppers had a harder time being rude to one another!

i like it when the person behind me at a red light starts blowing their horn the second the light changes to green. i mean the VERY second! and then sometimes (even after the honk) i'll still have to sit and wait for the red light runners that would have hit me if i had gone when i was honked at!!!
people have NO patience.

When we were in DC this past we found that this is common practice there at EVERY LIGHT. :scared1: We commented to my cousin, who lives in DC, on how rude it was and she didn't seem to think anything of it and didn't understand why we even noticed. Around here you honk your horn if someone is in immediate danger or if you are rude and that is it.

My mil and I found this out in DC too. We came to a complete stop at a stop sign and the car behind us immediately started honking!

Dh drives a truck across country and has to deal with crazy people on the road every day. He doesn't, but some drivers have taken to having a gun in their trucks :scared1: because of their fear of being attacked by these road ragers!

I once had a man scream and honk at me while I was waiting to make a left turn (not at an intersection) across 2 lanes of oncoming traffic. Apparently, I didn't "do the right thing" by risking injuring myself and damaging my car and turning in front of some oncoming cars. I turned as soon as it was clear and the guy behind me came screaming into the parking lot behind me. I wanted to avoid a confrontation with him, so I drove up and down several lanes in the lot, him following me the entire time, before I finally gave up and parked. He got out of his car and stomped over and started yelling obscenities at me, talking about how glad he was that I had so much extra time on my hands. I said, "Excuse me?" and he said, "Well, clearly your time is more important than mine because you couldn't be ****ing bothered to turn when it was clear!" He was really irate, all red-faced, veins bulging, etc.

So I said, "Sir, if your time is that valuable, may I ask why you just wasted 5 more minutes of it tailing me through the parking lot and then stopping to yell at me?" His only response was to call me a stupid ****ing b*tch and yell at his wife to come on while he stormed off. I just said, "Wow, that's a great man you've got there," to her and turned and went into the store.

I honestly don't know what's wrong with some people these days.

Last year a friend of mine was waiting at the Stop sign from her road onto the main road. That road is very busy and sometimes you have to wait quite a while for traffic to clear.

The young man in the car behind her was impatient and kept honking for her to go but she wasn't going until it was safe to do so. Finally he whipped around her, gave her the finger, yelled some obsenities and floored it to get onto the road.

It was the last thing he ever did.

She watched as he was T-boned in the driver's side door, and found out later that he had died.

I have wondered where he was in such a hurry to get to and if it was really worth never making it.

Here in Chicago, behavior like that seems to happen often enough it doesn't phase me anymore. Don't know how many times I've seen taxi drivers scream at someone--once I even saw them scream back and forth at one another at a stop light since their windows were down. So many people are impatient at lights (especially taxi drivers) and even the "homeless" people will yell at you if you don't give them anything.

What a great world we live in... :sad2:

Last night was my teen son's first time driving in the snow. He was scared. He told me that the car behind him was honking and flashing his lights. I asked him how slow he was driving and he said 30mph. The speed limit on that road is only 35 so it's not as if he was doing an unreasonably slow speed. He pulled over and let the guy pass. I've had the same thing happen myself. Why is everyone in such a hurry? One time in the snow a car went speeding past me. About 1/2 mile later he was in a ditch. I slowed down and asked if he was okay (this was before cell phones). He was. I responded that I guess he should have been going a little slower like me since the time he saved by passing wasn't going to do him much good now (he was really stuck!)

Karma in the best form..:thumbsup2

My late aunt (she was a hoot - LOL) was sitting at a red light one day and the guy in the car behind her kept blasting his horn like crazy.. She very calmy put her car in park, shut it off, got out, walked back to the "honker", and with a big smile and a totally "innocent" tone asked, "Did you want me for something?" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Of course in this day and age of road rage, it's not something I would suggest!

Wow, thats sad. People are just in to big of a hurry these days. :sad1:

I'm not sure why but, I've actually seen an individual throw a hammer at another car on the highway during rush hour!:scared1:

Have you ever noticed how often you catch up with those impatient drivers at the next traffic light? They go tearing around you and then you catch up with them at light after light...

Well crazy people don't really do simple things like that. I would have found a way to let hiim out. That just what I would have done.

I'm not saying OP hubby did anything wrong.

The OP said there were cars behind her DH, too. Unless he could get out and lift his car out of the line, there's nothing he could have done.

OP, don't let your DH change his mind. Next time maybe the guy will seriously hurt someone.

I don't think you would have to life any cars. It's pretty simple when cars pulled forward you just get out of line and let the car pass. I woudn't want to hold this crazy man up. I would want to get out of his way as fast as I could. What if he had a gun you can never tell what crazy people are going to do. My opinion is better safe then dead.

Ummm, if you read the OP, he was behind the person with several large vehicles behind him. So there is nothing he could have done. When the cars pulled forward, the ******* would be able to leave.

This reminds me of an idiot CM I encountered on my first CP. I stopped at the Hess outside MK to fuel up after work. At that time, you didn't have to prepay at any stations on property (I don't know if you do now, it's been awhile.) Anyway, I filled up and then trying to be nice, I pulled my car into a space so I could pay and free it up for the guy behind me who had been waiting. Never again.

I was waiting in a line about 5 or 6 people line when he came in. I politely informed him that I was waiting to pay and then he would be able to use the pump. He actually grabbed me roughly by the arm and hauled me up to the counter! I should have raised a stink. This man was another CM for crying out loud! Costume, nametag, the works. I should have looked at his nametag and contacted HR describing the costume and the incident. Could you imagine if that had been a guest he man handled? I really should have said something to him, but I was just in such shock that somebody would do that. That's the last time I ever tried to be nice at the pump.

If It had been me I would have just moved my car and let the loon go.

There was no place to move...the loon was in front of him, and there were cars behind him..should he have turned the car into chitty chitty bang bang and flown away?? :lmao:

Some people are just, well, words that would get blocked by the filter or get me points. I don't understand the mentality of my day is more important than yours so move out of my way.

Only once has anyone attempted an encounter like that with me. I was pulling into a travel plaza on the freeway and the guy behind me didn't like that I was slowing down to make the hairpin turn into the plaza. The guy was huge, I am 5'6" 136lbd. He comes up and starts pounding on my window. Luckily my passenger is my friend who is in the Secret Service and he had his badge and firearm on him. He defused the situation really quickly.

Had he not been there I probably would have just gone right through the travel plaza. When it comes to situations like that you just never know when the guy is a nut who will pull a gun or knife and a bruised ego heals more quickly than a bullet wound. Your husband probably felt the same and that is why he just stayed in his car, where at least he has a 2,000 lb weapon if he needs it.

are you serious?? that would be the day a stranger puts hands on me like that. he would be missing a set if you know what i mean, and the police would have been called.

If I had to get away from someone who is threating me with harm or cussing at me. You better believe I would find some way to get out of the situation even if I had to get out of my car and go inside

The op indicated that her dh couldn't get his car out of the truck's way. She also said that the truck guy was pounding on the window of the car. Doesn't seem to me that the dh had any other options.

I understand what you are saying. If I were in that situation, I would have either moved my car, or gone inside, if there were ANY WAY possible to do that. But it doesn't sound like that was possible in this situaiton. I can't say for sure, because I wasn't there to witness it, and neither were you. But that's how it sounds to me.

Personally, I think the op's dh handled the situation the best way he knew how. Why are you trying to make him out to be the one in the wrong?
