Our taxes are usually pretty simple and I can do them with the "free" Turbo Tax program, BUT this year I am a student with a couple of scholarships and a grant. I also commute to school - don't know if milage is deductible....

Anyway, what tax program would be best for us? Suggestions?

There are a few thread on this subject.

Here's a link to the most recent one.

I would still go with turbotax, but you may have to upgrade to a premium level...

Thank you, I did read that thread, but didn't feel like it was relevent - I don't expect to be able to use the free tax programs this year and I wanted to know what program was best for my situation. But, thanks again for taking the time to look up and llink the information. :flower3:

Thanks, that is what I was expecting, but since the collective DIS is so knowledgeable I wanted to ask here!

I use Taxact. It is free for everyone. I had lifetime learning credits and other new things this year and it worked just fine. I do, however, double check by using another tax program and just not getting to the point of paying and submitting. It has never been wrong. :)

I think you can't go wrong with Turbo Tax or TaxAct. They both navigate you through every possible scenario possible. :thumbsup2

I have always used Turbo Tax. Started off being able to use the "free" one and now we usually do the "deluxe", but had to use the "premier" last year because of a rental property. I have always found it to be easy to use. I would think you'd be able to use the "deluxe" version.

We have used Turbotax for many years. There have been years when one parent was taking college classes as well as one or more dependents in college and Turbotax has been able to handle all scenarios and show us which credits and deductions we qualify for and if we qualify for more than one which one is more favorable to us.
