What states do tarantulas live in?

OMG, I hate spiders. The bigger they are, the more scared I get. I always feel like they will jump up at me or chase me.

When my oldest DS was 3 he walked up to me, opened his hand and showed me a live spider. He had just picked it up like it was a harmless creature! Of course I screamed bloody murder.:scared:

They exist in California! I use to live in the sierra nevada mountains and use to pass them as they crossed the road on a dialy basis during the summer months. I thought that it was awesome as I had never seen one in the wild. :cool1:

California also has scorpions. My old boss for the forest service suggested that if I had to ever go potty in the woods that I should look before I squat..needless to say I always checked :rotfl2: . And yes, I have seen plenty.

I've lived in California my entire life, and I've only come across the t word (I can't even stand to type it) a few times. We had one on our front porch last year, and my dh and I came close to divorce because he chose to "relocate it" instead of killing it with a shovel like I asked. Seriously. I practically pass out from fear when I see them.

While on our road trip last year, we had left the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico and must have seen a dozen of those nasty things crossing the road on our way out. I asked my dh to please stop pointing them out because I was practically having panic attacks about them. I really, really fear those things. Just reading the title of this post made me feel a little anxious!

We have them in Texas..although since moving to our current house, I haven't seen any. :(

Oh...btw..I'm a spider lover too. I actually do all I can to ENCOURAGE them to live in my yard so they can eat all the bad bugs. I have a bat box on my back fence also. I'm not a tree hugger, but I do all I can to encourage the natural pest control to do their jobs. :)

I almost started a thread like this last week. I can't even stand to see daddy longlegs, let alone a spider the size of a muffin:scared1:

I think you are safe in Indiana

I've lived here my whole life, and I've never seen them (and thank God!!!!)

I've had some huge garden spiders in my yard, and my DD and I call them "maneaters":rotfl:

We've got some biggies in Florida. We have wood spiders (really big) and banana spiders (big and fat). And once in a while, I have to kill a scorpion. :scared1:

Not good. Maybe I need to look towards Alaska for my retirement plans!!:rotfl2:

Well I know to stay out of

California
OK
Arizona
New Mexico
Arkansas

That leaves me 45 states. I really wanted to see California, NM and the Grand Canyon though. Oh well, I'll need to find another massively big natural wonder of the world.

California, I know from my first DH telling me stories of them crossing the road.:scared1:

I think, for me, wolf spiders are in the same category and I know Colorado has big ones because I've seen them!!!:scared:

That is what I was going to say . I swear I almost wet my pants when my Uncle was driving me up to Disneyland from San Diego and we saw them on the road . ICK EEK I was going nuts with the willys inside the car .

My Uncle kept saying over and over .. " Shell it is fine they cant get in "
The crunching under the tires OH MY I am freaking out right now over it and I am in Dallas far far away

Okay then. Guess I won't be visiting my ex-coworker in Colorado. And forget trying to find a hot cowboy in Texas.
