What song brings tears to your eyes?

Teehee Nagle.. but I do think many would disagree with you.. She does have a very loyal fan base and think of all that money she is making in Vegas... :) :)

I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy gets me every time.

The Mahalia Jackson version of Precious Lord, Take My Hand. No one can deliver a spiritual like Mahalia.

I always cry when I hear "Vincent" because it reminds me of a friend who killed himself in HS.
Now that I'm a mom there are two country songs in the last few weeks that I've heard that have made me cry--"The Baby" and another one whose title I'm unsure of, but it might be "And they do"--saying you tell yourself you can't wait for your kids to grow up...and they do. "The Baby" is also a real tearjerker--like the book"I'll Love you Forever".
WAAAHH!
Robin M.

Oh, I forgot one. Here lately, it's been "I Believe", by Diamond Rio. Such a sweet song. :)

There are so many different songs that can make me cry depending on what kind of mood I'm in.

When I Get Home and Love Finds You by 4HIM always makes me think of my brother who passed away.

Right now songs about lost loves and lost friends make me bawl my eyes out.

There are so many right now that would reduce me to a massive ball of tears.

Mine would have to be reminders of those who have gone before me....

Here I am Lord (If the choir sings this I'd better have tissues) and

Gentle Woman (another church song) I also forgot Be not Afraid.

The National Anthem

God Bless America by Lee Greenwood

Friends by Micheal W. Smith

I haven't heard One Tin Soldier in a long time, but it used to make me cry.

Now don't laugh at this one, but Milli Vanilli (sp) had one (Girl I'm Going to Miss You" that was playing on the radio as my ex-husband was signing the divorce papers. He stopped signing, looked up, and started trying convince me he had changed and how much that song was really how he felt. So, I still cry when I hear that one. (BTW, I don't regret the divorce because I am alive. I regret my loss of innocence in believing in such a pure love)

I just finished putting together a compilation of songs that were inspired by NASCAR. Many of the songs are in tribute to the late Dale Earnhardt. Goodbye by Alabama, Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynrd, One More Dance by Vince Gill & Diamond Rio and Please Remember by Tim McGraw. They all have audio tracks from the fateful day when #3 hit the wall. It was very sad to me when I first listened to the recordings as I was selecting the songs for this cd. They took me back to that race and what I had felt when I'd heard the news.

I wanted to give a copy to my aunt for her 50th birthday (she's a BIG Terry Labonte fan) but it's almost too somber. There are some peppier songs and some humorous ones too.

"Wind Beneath My Wings" on Mother's Day 1989 at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), the nurses gave my DW and I a card with a clipping of our daughter's hair taped to it, and our daughter's footprint in the card, also one of the nurses wrote a note to us, "You are the Wind Beneath My Wings." Three days later our precious little baby girl passed away. Being the emotional type, everytime I hear this song I tear up.

Another song that gets me is, "Butterfly Kisses." We adpoted a beautiful baby girl from Mexico in 1990. Our DD will be 13 this year, and I think about the day that I will get to walk her down the aisle, I get all teary eyed again. There's a line in the song that says, "Daddy don't cry," that's when I lose it.

I don't believe no one has said this one yet..."Christmas Shoes" by Newsong! I always felt sad everytime I heard it but after I saw the movie I'll probably cry everytime it comes on the radio.:(

"Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning" (Alan Jackson)

"The Way We Were" (Barbara Streisand)

"I'm Already There" (??)

"What A Wonderful World" (Loius Armstrong)

"There's A Place For Us" (Barbara Streisand)

"How Can I Live Without You" (Leann Rimes)

"If Heaven Sent You Back" (Lorrie Morgan)

"When You Wish Upon A Star" (Linda Ronstadt)

"I've Waited All My Life For You" (Reba McEntire)

"Once Upon A December" (Deana Carter))

"Little Girl" (Reba McEntire)

"Where Do Broken Hearts Go" (Whitney Houston)

"Somewhere Out There" (James Ingram & Linda Ronstadt)

"Beauty And The Beast" (Celine Dion & Peabo Bryson)

"She Thinks His Name Was John" (Reba McEntire)

"Because You Loved Me" (Celine Dion)

"Between The Two Of Them" (Alabama)

"Love, Me" (Collin Raye)

"The Man I Used To Know" (Reba McEntire)

-----------------------------

Almost all of Kenny G's instrumentals..

--------------------------------------

"All Dressed Up With No Place To Go" (Reba McEntire)
This one is an absolute killer.. It's about an elderly woman in a nursing home who gets all dressed up every Sunday and waits hour after hour in the lobby for her family - who never come.. :(

------------------------

Now please excuse me while I go get my tissues....:(

As a proud Scot "O Flower of Scotland" always brings a lump to my throat.

One all you American friends should look out for is "Angels" by Robbie Williams. Robbie is about to take te American market by storm. "Angels" is the most requested song played at funerals in the U.K. A real tearjerker

but his song "Life Will Go On" has always gotten to me ever since my ex-husband walked out on me and our two sons.

Goodbye
There's a word I've hated
All my life
Unanticipated tears
Can hurt so much
My friend
It's so sad to see you
At love's end
I've been through the pain myself
It's really wrong
To play it strong
Go on and cry
'Till you run dry
It's alright
Go on and scream
At broken dreams
It's alright
Let sorrow have it's day
And when it's done
Life will go on
In time
Thoughts of "might have been"
Will leave your mind
And sweet forgetfullness
Will come
Don't worry now
Just when or how
Go on and cry
'Till you run dry
It's alright
Go on and scream
At broken dreams
It's alright
Let sorrow have it's day
To cry out
It's no crime
In no time
Life will go on

Certain songs will remind me of sad times because they were popular at that time. "Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera was popular in 1986 when an 18 year old family friend was killed in a motorcycle accident on July 4th, a month after graduation. "Circle of Life" reminds me of my second cousin who was killed on USAir 427 in September 1994. "In Arms of the Angels" reminds me of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy because I saw a piece on Entertainment Tonight when they were killed where they used that song. It was also recently used for the Columbia Astronauts. They used "Let There Be Peace on Earth" for Holiday Illuminations in 1998 that had me in tears, also when it was used again in the Candlelight Processional in 2001. And speaking of Barry Manilow, he did a remake of "If Tomorrow Never Comes" that was playing in the car when I rushed to the hospital when my Dad died in 1993. I could never listen to that song again.

Angel
Sarah McLachlan

Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
There's always one reason
To feel not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
Oh beautiful release
Memory seeps from my veins
Let me be empty
And weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

In the arms of an angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort there

So tired of the straight line
And everywhere you turn
There's vultures and thieves at your back
And the storm keeps on twisting
You keep on building the lie
That you make up for all that you lack
It don't make no difference
Escaping one last time
It's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
This glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

In the arms of an angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort there
You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here

Came out at one of the lowest points of my life when I didn't think I could go on one more day. Just reading the words makes me cry.

I am also a weeping mess when we sing in church

I just love how you said that, Marsha, and I'm the very same way!
I would like to know why I've changed, though. I can find something to cry about in many songs now that I'm older, but when I was a teen and young adult nothing seemed to phase me. What the heck happened?

"The living years" by Mike and the Mechanics I think that is the name of it.

Christmas Shoes doesn't make me cry because I turn the radio over or off whenever I hear it. It's too much for me.

My heart will go on by Celine Dion makes me cry too.

And DEFINATELY the song by Enya that was played during that 9-11 montage. That one makes me BAWL!!

In June of 1985 when my mom died, "Somewhere Out There" by James Ingram and Linda Ronstadt was popular. Whenever I hear it, it brings me to tears for that reason.

Also, Tears from Heaven by Eric Clapton.

"Where were you when the World Stopped Turning" Alan Jackson.
