that doesn't get a squished, crumbled, etc. gotta take somthing in for the kiddos - I've tried everything we like but 1/2 of it ends up squished & has to be thrown away...
When we take a backpack, I throw in some fruit snacks. However, now that they search the bags, and we are going at Christmas, I will just budget that we buy snacks in the park, or hold off until lunch.
Why does them searching bags matter? You can take snacks into the park can't you. I have always done that, a granola bar or two, fruit etc. I never had a problem, even when they started searching bags.
Despite the bag search we have still been able to bring in: fish crackers, water and juice bottles, kudo bars, fruit snacks, snack-size pringles, small beef stick-Slim Jim things, single serving cereal boxes. Not all at the same time mind you.
We like to bring trail mix. I make my own mix at home and then every morning in our hotel room I just load up each persons baggie and put it in our waist pack.
For my trip in June I brought Pringles and cookies, they didn't get smushed. So this time when I go in Dec, I will bring Goldfish crackers and Pringles.
I bring in little peanut and cashew packets. Also Ritz crackers and the Easy Cheese (I know, not too healthy, but we're on vacation....), string cheese, fruit, little packages of Teddy Grahams, granola bars, etc.
Laurabearz, when I first saw your post I thought that you meant that you brought a whole watermelon. I can just see a person walking in with that.
Apples, healthy trail mix (raw nuts and no chocolate), and Cliff bars. They are all filling and can be eaten on the go. But no matter how healthy I try to be I always end up buying taffy and gummies while in the park, I just love those sour Goofy's.

Technically, you CAN'T bring outside foods into the parks. It's one of those rules they don't enforce, even now with the bag search. But you have to be willing to accept that they may all of a sudden start enforcing it (and will thus forfeit your food).
Having said that--we always use the little Gladware containers to keep the food from getting smooshed. Not a big deal if they get lost or confiscated by a suddenly "letter of the law" greeter (which hasn't happend yet).
If they were to really start enforcing this policy WDW suddenly becomes family "unfriendly." I can understand them wanting to make a profit and not have people rolling in big coolers of food, but really, does anybody with a toddler travel without snacks? I don't even drive to the grocery store without first making sure I've got some sort of cracker someplace!
I would be very, very surprised if they suddenly started enforcing the no outside food rule. We've been bringing snacks (and sometimes lunches) in since our DD was a toddler, and she just turned 18!
