Hi everyone

We will be staying in the Disney Caribbean Resort hotel in the Epcot area. Apparently all the rooms have a safe.

Does anyone know the internal dimensions of these safes? What sort of items will fit in them? Are they just big enough for money wallets, watches, jewellery, small cameras etc? Or can you fit bigger items like a laptop computer? This might make a big difference to what we bring with us.

Many thanks.

The safes are sized for wallets, identification, papers etc. I have not yet seen one large enough for a laptop - a PDA yes but not a laptop

cheers

Typical room safe. No laptops thats for sure. May a small camera, I don't think you could fit a SLR in there.

Many thanks guys. Another thought, if we were particularly paranoid would be to put the laptop computer in our hard suitcase which has a built in number-dial lock thingy and then use a chain with padlock and put the chain around a room fixture! I don't know if this is a bit extreme?

Do people find security of items in rooms is ok anyway? I can put padlocks on the laptop case but that won't stop someone walking off with the case, unless I then chain the case to something fixed in the room (a rod for hanging clothes in the wardrobe for instance).

Many thanks for any comments.

Along the line of safes.....did I imagine that they were going to put safes in the OKW studios? Do they have safes in the studios now?

They did in our studio 2wks ago. It was in the closet, behind the ironing board.:sunny:

That does sound extreme!

My bride has brought her laptop with her to WDW several times. She usually just turns it off and leaves it on the table. ::yes::

I'm sure someone here could come up with a story about items coming up "missing" from the room but in all our many trips I've never heard such a story. In my opinion you are much more likely to lose or damage your laptop in transit than at the resort. In any case, before you travel with a laptop I ALWAYS recommend you make a backup of any critical data before you leave home.

but the 1 and 2BR's at the BCV's have safes that are large enough for a laptop.

I have a security cable I bring with me if I can't fit the laptop in the safe.

I take my laptop every time and leave it out along with my DSLR camera, never had a problem and don't expect to.
