Barenaked Ladies probably fall into this category. I remember buying the Yellow Album from Sam the Record Man's flagship store.
Just to give people a taste of one of their best songs:
One Week went #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 though.Barenaked Ladies probably fall into this category. I remember buying the Yellow Album from Sam the Record Man's flagship store.
I have heard that! Probably around Halloween. They’re jammin though. It kind of reminds me of my favorite Elfman song, the beetlejuice opening. New sounds joining in to build up to this manic ride of a song.
They still sell out large arenas, at least pre-Covid. Quite a few hits and huge following so I think they did pretty well. My favorite BNL song will always be Brian Wilson.Barenaked Ladies probably fall into this category. I remember buying the Yellow Album from Sam the Record Man's flagship store.
The other members of Oingo Boingo still do shows. They did one in Pasadena fairly recently. Work got in the way or we would have gone. Hope to see them again after life returns to normal. And you are right -- they are amazing!Danny worked with Oingo Boingo long before his composing career. He actually inherited the band from his brother Richard who got into directing movies. They are an amazing band though, with lots of horns and unusual instruments. He eventually gave up playing rock music because he wanted to preserve his hearing, so the band basically ended in 1995. He still collaborates with guitarist Steve Bartek from the band though.
I love the Katy Perry cover of that song!My vote goes to these guys. I was obsessed in the 80's
It's one of those things that's hard for me to gauge since they are of course quite popular in Canada. They still sell out large arenas, at least pre-Covid. Quite a few hits and huge following so I think they did pretty well. My favorite BNL song will always be Brian Wilson.
The entire Dead Man's Party album is great. Not just one or two good singles but something I could listen through the entire album.
There was a time when there were demented with songs like Only a Lad and Little Girls.
Katrina and the Waves
Fountains of Wayne
I mean they made it to some degree but such a better band than being know for Stacy'ss Mom.
Not a bad song on this album.
Sadly one of thetwo core member/writer/musician died from Covid last month
Midge Ure. He co-wrote "Do They Know It's Christmas" and had a solid career in the band Ultravox and as a solo artist. Saw him live a few times and his vocals are so strong.
