We did the Western cruise in September. We were in 6588 (starboard). From our verandah, we could see all the loading going on at Port Canaveral and docking at Key West (loved that!). Ship tenders at Grand Caymen so doesn't really matter which side you're on! Docked alongside a Carnival ship on port side at Cozumel (for disembarkation) so only looked into other people's rooms but on starboard we could see the mainland, other ships coming into dock and watch the excursion boats come alongside to load passengers (very cool!) and on CC we had a spectacular view of the island. When we got back to port and being non-US citizens, we had to be up at 5.30am to go thru immigration. I couldn't go back to sleep for just an hour or two so spent a fascinating time on the verandah watching the logistics of getting the ship ready for the next guests. How they turn around in such a short time is little short of a miracle IMO! My vote would go for starboard although as has been said, don't plan your room assignment solely on which side coz it could change!
