What should you do with the new DVC Planner?

What do you think of the DVC *2009* Planner?

  • It's useless....it's almost 2010

  • I LOVE it! I will use it as a keepsake!

  • I wish I could "opt out" and veiw it online

  • I can take it or leave it

  • Bring back to old "3 ring binders!"

I love my binder, but it got so much use the first 6-8 years of our membership, it's binding has worn out! I have it duct taped to hold it together now, but I love! All the membership information in one place, including the POS! Nothing that complete has arrived since they started doing these books that get later and later.

I used to look forward to those special new pages coming every year, and I always replaced the old ones right away and added by notes to them.

I didn't vote.
Now I'll tell you why.
I'm in the prinitng industry and I thought it might be a little wierd for me to do so.
The planner, which we just received yesterday by the way, is a reasonably high quality print job which I believe is used as a marketing piece for DVC.
The idea is a good one, but it is also an expensive one.
I'm sure they get a very good price or have their own printing facility doing the job. I'm also sure that it could probably be done a little (or maybe a lot) less expensively.
Not doing it at all makes the most sense to me if money and the environment could be saved. Using recycled paper would also make some sense to me.
The book is well done and very attractive.
I'd rather see this online (in a more friendly user environment) and save some bucks in our fees or add some really usable perks.

I haven't received the new planner yet so I reserve the right to change my mind after seeing it.

Right now it seems to me the planner is USELESS. Most everyone has already booked their 2009 trips. They should have just skipped it with an apology and gotten onto the 2010 planner - seems to me they need the time to get the job done. ;)

I wonder if they'd get the message if we all started dropping our 2009 planners off at the front desk. I know, "Its out of the way", "I've got to lug it with me?"... "blah, blah, blah"... but imagine:

How many DVC members are on site any given day? perhaps 10K?
Even if 5% of the people (500 a day), would drop their planners off at that front desk, it would most likely send a message they can't ignore.

We have not received our planners yet either, but I agree with this completely. We have already planned our 2009 trips and are beginning to plan our 2010 trips. At this point, it just seems like such a waste when the year is nearly half over. I would just rather then skip the 2009 and go straight to the 2010 planner. I have to admit, I have used the planner that we got last year a ton. I love just to leaf through it and plan vacations in my head. Having something to physically touch just makes it seem more real to me.

Haven't received mine yet, but I voted for opting out. I go right to the website for any planning that I do anyway. I'd rather them save the trees, and expenses of printing/shipping, and reduce our dues a few cents.
I usually use the web page to also but love to look through the planner and day dream. As far as the trees go the trees used for paper are grown on farms just for that purpose and replaced so there is always new growth for the birds and small annimals. plus there is no underbrush so deer love the tree farms as well.

What are you talking about? What 2009 planner? I have nothing. When did they arrive?

Received ours on 5/22; hope you've received yours by now Jean & things are going well by you too
(hope you're planning next DVC adventure :flower3: ?)

Best wishes :goodvibes

YOU NEED ANOTHER OPTION...I haven't received mine yet. :sad2:

It's not really a marketing piece, the Dreams book is used for that. I'm sure it is pricey though, based on my knowledge of print. I'm voting to opt out (although I love the pictures, I'd rather see more up to date photos and videos posted online). We don't have to wait for them to bring back the binders, buy your own and print out the charts from the website.
The only issue is the folks that don't have internet access, but really all they need are updated point charts and T&Cs. Those could be sent out much more cost effectively (black and white, no photos...)

I voted for the opt out. I never use it, I go to the DVC web site for all planning.

My grandkids like to look at anything Disney, so I always like getting something new to show them.
