What Should McCain Do Now?

No they don't. People care about the economy not something that happened ages ago.

You just don't get it.:confused3

That is why he will lose. We have put up with some much corruption in government these days that an association with Ayers is nothing....come on, wake up.

It is sad people don't care about this. I guess in a few years Obama can hang out with Osama.

I have an idea. Maybe he should have a big, well publicized meeting with many economists from around the world and come up with a new plan to save the economy. I think he should even invite Obama to the meeting to show his bi-partisan concern for the country.

I honestly think people are sick of all the negativity and they want to see someone actually being proactive.

Yeah, and Obama is ahead in the polls and the economy continues to tank.
I get it- I just don't understand the apathy to Obama working with and being connected to this animal. It says a lot about his character and none of it is good.

Well, Obama has no control over Ayers much like McCain has none over Bush.

Obama was working on a school initiative, not a terrorist agenda.

If the watched the feedback that was given by the people as they watched the last McCain/Obama debate, everything they said something negative, the numbers would drop. People have had enough of the badmouthing. I want to know, what are you going to do for the United States and what are you going to do for me!

It is sad I have to put up with Repub freaking religious crap.

Oh but that is Ok because it is a Republican thing. And you can bash and swiftboat your way to winning.

Not this time.

True- but he was working on that school agenda with a TERRORIST. I saw the man whose home they bombed in 1970.... he was on Fox and Friends this morning. Have you heard him speak?

Maybe, maybe not. That whole family values thing came out of left field in 2004. Who's to say, that not his Oct surprise.

I'm not a republican. I'm not that religious. You don't like it walk the other way. I do.

However, Ayers is a terrorist. Oh! Wait, it's okay to hang out with him, it was years ago.

Ok so he did it. Obama denounced it. I don't care about non-issues. I don't give a hoot about religion, abortion, and past crap. Lord knows we had our President lie to our face about Iraq.

Now what is McCain going to do about Universal Healthcare?

Oh nothing.

He is going to deregulate Healthcare...oh joy. I see how effective it is regarding our economy.

I just do not agree with the Republican principles. If you want to "crook it up" we can certainly drag the current Adminstration in for a whipping.

I'm a Dem that will bite......

Since it’s the economy that people are worried about McCain should 'show' that he will do what he claims. Like announce who he plans to work with him on certain issues. Announce his cabinet. A cabinet filled both Republicans and Dems will spark interest. If he's smart he'll also include women. This will appeal to the independence, the base is already secured. He needs to stop these negative attack ads. McCain is spending so much time attacking Obama he's forgetting to "talk up" himself.

I half to put up with it and I am SICK of it. I have reached breaking point with the Moral Majority.

Oh, please. How irrelevant is this! That's the best thing you have to say about McCain? That the other guy is scary?

Someone asked me wouldn't I immediately resign from a board that Ayers was on. And I said, why would I resign? I'm the good guy. I'll stay on that board and make sure money gets used for good.

Oh I get, Palin is dumber then a dead, gold-digging, drug-addicted centerfold. Oh gosh, I am laughing so hard I can't catch my breath. How do you come up with these hysterical put downs time after time.

Yes, yes and yes. She IS that dumb. I know it. You know it. Everybody knows it. A high-profile conservative recently called her a "fatal cancer in the Republican party." She's killing the Republican party, and she'll kill our nation if she gets into power. If you somehow still have the courage to vote for her, God bless you.

McCain needs to put on a more positive, upbeat facade, even if he doesn't feel it. People are scared, people are looking for someone who inspires confidence. Right now, everytime I see him, I see an irritated, cranky, and often mean-sounding man. People have had 8 years of fear, elevated alerts, and more fear crammed down their throats. Even if it's fake, people are looking for a bit of light, and he doesn't have it.

He needs to step away from any negative, explain his healthcare reform in MUCH more detail and explain exactly how it will help the average American or the one who can't even get coverage now.

He needs to come up with a more specific plan on the economy and talk about it. Buying up people's homes at their inflated values isn't going to work.

And last but not least he needs to find a VERY graceful way to ditch Palin. She was the one who swung this independent to the other side. I think she really has pulled him down. It was an interesting choice at first, not knowing who she was, there was some real "hope" on my part. Now I'm just left thinking "My God, what were they thinking?"

McCain needs to spend more money on his ads here in Florida. Right now Obama has three times more ad dollars at work here. Also, lets be real..Obama is not advocating universal health care either. Universal health care would BANKRUPT us...straight into another depression. Can't remember who mentioned that.

Finally, McCain needs to focus on the the "errors" that are being spun by Obama. For instance...he touts his support of welfare reform when he actually opposed it in congress. Same thing with health care for returning vets...he says he helped to implement it when he, in fact, skipped the vote about it. Where are the fact checkers with him?????

I am still undecided...but man I think McCain is getting a raw deal while Obama goes unchecked by the media. McCain needs to step up his ads and responses to Obama's knocks.

I agree that the Ayers thing is pointless politically. Thats the problem...focusing on things that have no teeth. Of course its easy for the guy with the ten point lead to focus on the positive stuff.:rolleyes1

Obama wasn't involved in any of that. He was just a little kid when all that was going on. I also saw someone on FOX news talking about how many of Reagan's aids and other prominent Republicans also served on these chartible boards with Ayers. Apparently, he's extremely active in Chicago and it's almost impossible to involved in the community action circuit there without being somehow linked to Ayers.

Here's a quote from an NPR article about it:

Regardless of his background, it was never a problem for anyone — including Republicans and Chicago's most powerful business leaders — to work with Ayers on Chicago's public schools. In fact, Ayers is widely respected in the field of urban education.

"It was never a concern by any of us in the Chicago school reform movement that he had led a fugitive life years earlier," said former Illinois state Republican Rep. Diana Nelson, who worked with both Obama and Ayers over the years. "It's ridiculous. There is no reason at all to smear Barack Obama with this association. It's nonsensical, and it just makes me crazy. It's so silly."

Oh, please. How irrelevant is this! That's the best thing you have to say about McCain? That the other guy is scary?

I think this is exactly the problem. People don't want to know why they should be afraid of the other guy, they want to know why they should vote for you.

Remember that scene at the end of "An American President?" The one where Andrew Sheppard finally speaks to the people about the mudslinging his opponent has been throwing his way? In the middle of that speech he says, "America isn't easy. America is advanced citizenship. You gotta want it bad, 'cause it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say "You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours. You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country can't just be a flag; the symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then, you can stand up and sing about the "land of the free". I've known Bob Rumson for years, and I've been operating under the assumption that the reason Bob devotes so much time and energy to shouting at the rain was that he simply didn't get it. Well, I was wrong. Bob's problem isn't that he doesn't get it. Bob's problem is that he can't sell it! We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them. And whatever your particular problem is, I promise you, Bob Rumson is not the least bit interested in solving it. He is interested in two things and two things only: making you afraid of it and telling you who's to blame for it. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you win elections."

For many people, McCain is looking a little like Rumson....using fear and blame to scare the electorate. So far it's been a strategy that isn't working very well.
