What should I do for two days?

Looks like we'll be at OKW for two nights after our cruise (I'm so excited :cool1:) . We'll not be buying park tickets so I need to figure out what else to do with 5 kids (ages 11months, 2, 3, 5 and 7). I've never been to WDW so I haven't a clue what's out there. I did get some really good info from mousesavers website (a good start) and I remember reading something similar to this on this board a while back but my search pulled up too many hits. A couple of specific questions I do have are:

1. How's the kids activities program at OKW? How easy/hard is it to get around to other DVC resorts, DD, and Boardwalk? Will I need a car?

2. I know the kids will spend ALOT of time in the pool (I'm hoping that November is still warm enough for the pool). Can we also visit pools at other DVC resorts? I'm not sure of the rules for pool hopping.

Any suggestions would be great. TIA!

I have never specifically looked at the kids activities but you can rent boats and bikes. They have a decent community room with Ping Pong, TV, Coloring, Toys, Crafts, Etc.

Well, without a car you have to take a bus to a park or DD and then catch a bus to the other resport which can take an hour plus. You can walk to DD but it is a bit of a hike and then take a bus from there. Again it will take an hour or so. For 2 days I think you will have enough to do at DD and OKW. Personally I would not rent a car unless you have somewhere specific you want to go like Mini-Golf and such. The ride or walk to DD should be less than 30 minutes with the wait.

You can visit the other pools except for the pool at the BCV (although we have done it while staying at BWV) You are supposed to call ahead first and they can say no or shut it down at peak travel days. Again, personally with only 2 days I would stick to the pool at OKW..it has a feature slide now and I dont think the travel time is worth it. (unless you have a car rented**see above**)

In general, if you don't want to go to the parks I would stick to the activities at OKW. Hang out, relax, get some bikes or boats one day and go to DD the other day. If you decide to rent a car, go walk the boardwalk, have some ice cream at Beaches and Cream, swim at BWV pool one day, stay at OKW and play some mini-golf the other day. You could also drive to Cape Canaveral or go to Universal or Sea World :earseek:
I would opt for the laid back and relax route though.

Don't forget to visit Downtown Disney. No admittance fee, but lots of fun things, food and shops. Your kids will probably enjoy playing at the Lego Store---they have stations set up everywhere with lego pieces to build with. You can also rent a boat to take out on the lake for not too much money--the mouse boats are most fun, but only seat 2, but they also have bigger pontoon boats you can rent.

Is Lego open again? It was closed in February and didnt look like it was anywhere near ready to reopen

Some thoughts -
Pools
Mouse boats $ (or other boats including free resort transportation)
Resort tours (just check out all the different resorts)
Ride monorail (goes with above)
Downtown Disney $
Boardwalk
Surrey bikes / regular bikes $
Mini-golf $
Video games $

($ = cost money)

You don't need a care to get around and do all the above. If you get a car, you can go off site and expand the list, but for a day or two there's quite a bit to do.

If you can, consider changing your ressie to Vero Beach. For 2 days after a cruise, nothing could be finer.

We were there the week following Easter and I was happy to see that it was open again! They've made some nice changes----they've added Lego play areas inside as well as out (nice when it's hot) and added some Lego diaramas to the outside of the store to look out (recessed into the walls). There was also a guy there demonstrating the construction a very large Lego castle and fireworks picture that was really neat and they had a raffle for it. There's also some new figures outside that reminded me of the things you see at LegoLand in CA.

Some of the new Lego sets in stock included Star Wars items that tie in to the new movie. My dh was drooling....

Thank you for all the ideas. Vero Beach is another great idea and we're keeping that option open, too.

A character meal on a day that you don't do the parks might be a great idea. You could really relax and enjoy the characters without having to feel like you need to rush off to get the most out of the parks.

I think Chef Mickey is at a resort (can't remember which one right now) and comes highly recommended.

Chef Mickey is at the contemporary resort and it's a good idea especially for your kids ages. I agree with everyone else also. Downtown Disney would be alot of fun. The kids will LOVE lego land and they also have the mini train ride.
