:thumbsup2 Okay, So technically...I am already grown up at the ripe old age of 28. I have NO CLUE what I want to do with my life. I have been a stay at home mom for the past 4 years and now that DD is going to Kindergarden, DH is graduating soon, I have some time in starting in May to get some sort of school/training in to enrich my earning potential. But I have NO CLUE what to do. DId I mention i have NO CLUE. I have thought about a lot of things...(ie) LPN, paralegal, Transcription, Administrative Assistant, Human Resourses, but i just can't find anything that screams "yes, I want to do this for the rest of my life" The one that most looks like it would fit my life is LPN, or RN. But I would ahve to work Holidays, which is something that seems really hard to get used to.
I want a career that gives me the option to work part time, and still make decent money, as well as be home with my daughter when she is sick, and be home after she gets home from school. (at the latest 4:30pm) Am I dreaming here? Are there careers out there, where you can make decent money, be there for your kids and not have to go to school myself for 6 years? I am thinking at the most a 2 year degree here. Maybe 4 if it's a suggestion that i absolutley fall in love with.
Any suggestions at all would be great. Like I said, I am up for anything at this point.
Thanks.

ETA: I do like computers. I enjoy typing and orginizing, photography, helping people, and i love kids.
In case that helps.

Wow, your conditions are tough. I do understand them though, and this is why I work for myself. I work holidays, evenings, etc, at times, but having the possibility and flexibility to be there when my kids need me, is priceless.

The hardest thing would be having to send a child to school sick, or not being able to pick them up. NOt an easy choice..

How about a daycare? Possibly one run from your house. You can still be there when you are needed, and interact with children.:confused3

Thanks for the idea..
anyone else have anything?I know my criteria are rought. i would be willing to bend a bit, if i found something worth while..anyone have any ideas??

So, you're looking for the dream job of 80% of the mothers in the world? :rotfl:

I don't know of any that would fit your bill--I guess it depends on what you mean by "good money." But high paying part time jobs are few and far between.

You might want to take a look at the Occupational Outlook Handbook (google it, it's online now) which will give you an idea of starting salaries and educational requirements for most types of jobs.

I saw you mentioned transcription. Have you considered doing it from home? That might give you a good bit of flexibility in your schedule.

You could always earn your LPN or even a tech degree in Insurance billing, and go to work in a private Dr. office. Depending on where you live, you may find a lot of jobs available in that field. Doctors' offices in my area are constantly advertising for medically trained help.

Whatever you decide, good luck! I'll be in your position in another couple of years, and it's more than a little terrifying!
