What section should we request at Port Orleans Riverside?

Hi, all! My family and I will be staying at POR this summer. We have two boys, 7 & 2. Is there a particular section that you would recommend above the others? We're not very particular, other than we don't want to be where it is noisy at night. Being close to a bus stop would be nice, but not an absolute must. Thank you. Looking forward to your responses.

Magnolia would probably work well for you. Its right next to the East Depot, a super quick walk to Ol' Man Island, and an easy enough walk to the lobby/food court area.

I loved staying at POR. I have two girls and we stayed in the Royal Guest rooms, but can imagine a 7 year old boy feeling those are too "girly". :) Enjoy!!

Boys would like alligator bayou, the area I think like building 16, 18, right behind the preferred rooms, unless you get proffered, but the area right behind them is really great, they are close to the main front bus stops, close to the food court, they have a quiet pool, and the laundry room is right there. And because they are not right near the pool, food court or lobby they are real quiet.

My DS was 2.5 when we stayed at POR. The alligator bayou area was good for him. He got a kick out of the room recor. I think we were in building 38 or 37 (or 39). It was quiet. We didn't use the buses as we had our car, but a bus stop appeared to be relatively close by. The pool and lobby area wasn't too far; they were maybe a 5-7 minute walk.

With boys, definitely the Alligator Bayou rooms for the theme. They also have a small murphy bed, which would be another option for one of your boys to sleep on (with a fun cartoon alligator picture).

Also, remember that POR and POFQ allow guests to share pools. It's a nice walk along the river, and POFQ has a dragon slide that your boys would probably love. My two-year-old can't swim, but he surprised us by wanting to go down the big slide. I went to the top to help him start, and my husband was able to catch him at the bottom (the lifeguards just asked that my husband stand to the side to catch him - not directly in front of it).

I have stayed in Magnolia building which is fairly close to everything, and I remember it being very quiet. This year we will be trying out the Alligator Bayou preferred room section.

Here is a great site to check out for the PO resorts http://www.portorleans.org/
We have found the whole resort is pretty quiet since the main pool and lobby area are off on their own and since it has 4 bus stops your room will be pretty much close to one of them. Look at some room photos etc. and pick the type you would like to request.

I never pick a section, I always just pick the amenity I want... ie close to a bus stop. To me being close to the stop is top of the list. Alligator Bayou would probably appeal to the boys more so you might just request that but not a certain building.

I'll say Alligator Bayou as well. We are DVC members but didn't have enough points left for one of our trips. We stayed at AB and it was perfect. Very close to bus stop, food court, and really quiet. If you can swing a preferred room I would do that. They really make a difference. We were literally 2 minutes from the food court and 3 minutes from Ol Man River pool. We really enjoyed it. And if you do stay there go to the site listed above. More information on POR than you'll ever need:)

Good luck!!!

I thank all of you for your responses. I think we're going to request a room in Alligator Bayou. I like the look and I think our older boy will really like it, too.

We really:love: Magnolia Bend.....(mansions) I feel that there isn't a better location to be in frankly.

From being so very close to their own bus stop, to being a 2 minute walk over to movies under the stars. (1 bldg. over) To a nice quick walk to the quiet pool, to just another minute or so to the main pool, & lastly a 5 minute walk to the main bldg. ( over the bridge ) The whole resort is awesome, and everything is very easily accessible. But we wouldn't hesitate to request MB Yet again, if we stayed here in the future.
