What secrets should we know?

Thanks for the initial responses!

My wife will be glad to know about TP. It was a worry point for her!

So is there any way to rent a car while at SSR for one day? Without going to the airport?

And keep the secrets coming! We're getting soooooooo excited here.

If you're thinking of renting a car just to go get groceries, you might want to consider having them delivered, so as not to waste valuable vacation time shopping (not to mention $$ on car rental). There are a couple places that do this - we used Gardengrocer.com, and they were able to get everything we wanted and brought it all right to the room shortly after we checked in. Delivery fee was $10, which was well worth it to us.

If you're only needing a few things, the resort has the basics, like milk, fruit, bread, etc. available at Artist's Palette / gift shop.

As far as food goes, AP is fantastic for counter service, it has fresh made to order salads and sandwiches. We also really enjoyed Turf Club. We had lunch there and it was very nice. Our favorite thing was the blackberry lemonade - yum!

Your ds 5 should enjoy the pool, with its zero entry and Donald sprinkly thing, so you might want to request the Springs to be near it. Also, you can use the spa's facilities before check-in or after check-out, to shower, etc. after swimming.

Have a fantastic time!

I've said this before on a few other post, but I have to say it again.

Thank God, more great things about SSR. I was getting tired of all the bashing. I love the place

It is not a trip without Chef Mickey and Beaches and Cream :thumbsup2
Beaches & Cream! Another reason I can't wait to go back

We just got back from our first trip a couple of weeks ago. (Actually it was our first time ever staying onsite.) We loved it and had a fantastic time.

We did quite a bit of cooking in the room. It's faster and cheaper and more comfortable than eating out and the kids get the simple meals they prefer. We ordered via Wegoshop. Garden Grocer has a list that you choose from. We wanted things they didn't carry, so we opted for Wegoshop. With Wegoshop you give her your detailed list & she goes to the store for you. The delivery charge is $17 for orders under $100 and we tipped $5. (We also brought some things with us, like teabags since we only needed a few, and rice because we buy it from the health food store.) This is cheaper than renting a car and we didn't have to take time out of our vacation to shop.

At bedtime we discovered that there were no sheets for the sofabed. They brought them over but next time we will check for that right away. (Look in the chest in front of the sofa and in the closet in the bathroom.)

We were in the Springs (as per our request) which was a great location, but one morning before the main pool was open we went to the Paddocks section & enjoyed their quiet pool and the small playground there.

Also, previous messages have mentioned the boat to DTD. Be aware that it does not begin running until 11:30 am. Before that you must walk or take a bus.

You can borrow DVDs at Artist's Palette (no charge to DVC members).

Enjoy your stay!

Gardengrocer.com was mentioned in a previous post but I just wanted to add that I have heard all good things about this service. I plan on ordering some things from them when I go in Dec. They will even deliver beer and wine if you request....

Have a great time!

At SSR you must take a dip in the Quiet pool at night...it is so cool to look out at DTD :thumbsup2

At SSR just a few weeks back we found the BEST secret----I can't believe we never used it before!
The consierge (sp) His name was Bill. He knew EVERYTHING
He got us great dinning reservations and suggested which days and nights to do what. He showed us short cuts.........He was wonderful!!
Look for Bill if you have any questions ( and even if you don't)
Our kids started calling him "Uncle Bill"-----which caused a problem since they have an Uncle Bill for real---and they seemed to like SSR "Uncle Bill" better
Have a wonderful time and make your own secrets your own special memories
