What ride is scary to your little one?

DD10 is scared to death of Dinosaur. Last year, at age 9, she was scared of Haunted Mansion but has agreed to try it again this year. She's also not crazy about It's Tough to Be a Bug and will not touch Space Mountain.

My dd was terrified of Honey I Shrunk the Audience when she was 4, and still refuses to see it at 15. The snake and the mice scared her half to death. :earseek: We still laugh about her practically climbing around my neck when that snake came out of the screen!

MY DS8 loved every ride he went on (including RRC, SM & BTM) except for the Haunted Mansion - go figure. The creepiness in the beginning really frightened him and we had to exit the "chicken" door.

DD freaked out on Figment --I had forgotten about the puff of air. She also didn't like Pooh the first time b/c she was tired but loved Snow White. Go figure. I think part of it depends on the time of day. She loved Pirates and Spaceship Earth (2 months later-she still asks to ride "Big Ball".

Before we even arrived at Disney World, our DD(5 at the time) had already ruled out Haunted Mansion, PotC, and ToT. Our first day, we saw It's Tough To Be A Bug and we had to take her out in the middle of the show. She was violently shaking with fear and clutching DH like there was no tomorrow. She now refuses to see any 3-D movies.

DD9, DS8 & DD7 did not like, Tough to be a Bug, Dinosaur, TOT & HM. They loved Figment, it was one of their favorite rides.

When dd was 4.5 she freaked about 3 minutes into It's Tough to be a Bug. She also hated Muppets! (the 3D effects were too much!!) She went on HM earlier at age 6 and hid her head for most of it, but liked Muppets this year. We didn't try TOT, Stitch or Snow White with her. We may try Stitch next March. Kids tend to get more scared when the element of surprise is involved...ie: sudden noise, movement or smell.

Went January with DS(3) and DS(5). DS(3) was scared all during dinosaurs, but then after it was over , was dragging me back to the line, it was so fun! DS(5) was scared to go on Haunted mansion, even though he had been on the same ride at Disneyland 3 times only 8 months earlier! Fnally convinced him to tryit and he kept his eyes closed the whole ride! Said he took one littel peak, saw the ghosts hitchhiking, and slammed them shut again!

I think the scariness of features rides is relative to individuals. Both mine loved Bug's life, like to be surprised. Preparation IS important! I always find out what is going to happen and prepare them for it. Not by telling them, "Hey little man, on this ride giant dinosaurs are going to jump out at you from all directions!"! For Dinosaurs (for example) we told our kids that the ride was like riding a jeep through a dinosaur land and that the jeep was surrounded by a magical force field designed by Walt Disney himself to protect them!

DD3 rode and wanted to ride anything she was tall enough for. She really got into the 3-d movies We saw them all(started asking for the glasses) liked pooh, peter pan etc. She love any and all rollercoasters, TT and Soarin. Huddled into mom for HM and POtc (but watched it all), and was concerned in Snow White till we reminded her it is all okay in the end.

The one that got her the most was the Great Movie Ride at MGM, I had no idea about the come to life scenes (my MIL wanted to ride) and she thought they were going to hurt her. I just told her not with you Mommy and Daddy here, she still never cried.

4 year old was scared of:

Snow White's Scary Adventures

Pirates of Caribbean (the dark drop)

My DS5 refuses to ride Splash Mountain. He rode Pirates in August, but has already told us that he will not ride it when we go back next week. Every time we got on a ride, he asked us if it had a waterfall. On the other hand, he loves Figment. He rode it the first time when he was 3, and we have to ride it multiple times when we go to Epcot. I have a lot of the script memorized. The blast of air is his favorite part! When we're at home, he loves to scream out, "Imagination is a BLAST!" He has told everyone about that blast of air on "Figment", as he calls the ride.
