What resturant do you miss that is not around anymore?

A lot of the big chains mentioned in this thread declared Chapter 11 and then heavily reduced their locations - like Baker's Square and Marie Callender's. Sizzler is another chain that severely cut back on locations after Chapter 11.

I've got a lot more that people around here reminisce about. There's Zim's:

Or Doggie Diner:

And one place I went to a lot in my childhood was Edy's Restaurant in Berkeley, California. It was named after Joseph Edy, who with William Dreyer started an ice cream business. This is the only photo I could find of the exterior - and it was taken during the 60s when the California National Guard was sent into Berkeley during protests:

You can have ours. I have no idea how the place stays open, there is never anyone there.
We went there once when it first opened five or six years ago and haven't been back. If I'm paying $13 for a hamburger, you better be bringing it to my table.

And it better be better than steak and shake. Fudruckers for us was right up there in ripoffville with Johnny Rockets. They opened a few where we lived. But they all went out fairly quickly.

OMG! Pipers & Swensons - I remember both. I loved the ice cream place called Farrell's. Also the Victoria Station that was in Oakland. Since they were a chain, were all the restaurants designed around railroad cars?

My sister scarfed down a whole pig's trough at Farrell's. My brother scared down a pike's peak. Every Victoria's station I saw had railroad cars incorporated usually with a caboose out front. Only one remains.

Bill Knapp's!

I think they were only in the great lakes states and Florida. they were in business from 1956 -early 2000's. We would go every Sunday and everyone's birthday. I would always get au gratin potatoes.

I can still find their celebration cakes at Kroger
I need to find a copy cat recipe for those potatoes
