What restaurant to choose

I am planning a trip to WDW in June. We have one free day and want to go to a restaurant outside of the parks. Any suggestions?

You can't go wrong with any place at the Swan or Dolphin (Il Mulino, Shula's or bluezoo). We also enjoy Narcoossee's, 'Ohana, Citricos, California Grill, Artist Point, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Flying Fish Café, Jiko, Boma, Sanaa, Raglan Road, Fulton's and we're excited to try the new Boathouse. An embarrassment of Disney dining riches await you outside the parks!

Depends on your taste in food (steak places, fish places, burgers, etc..) and the price you are willing to pay. My wife and I are Disney foodies. Here are a few suggestions that aren't in the parks but still on property (if that is what you are looking for)

1. California Grill (Top of the World/Contemporary) ($$$$) If you get reservations at 8:30 pm or so you can see the fireworks and they pipe in the music from the show.
2. Yachtsman Steakhouse (Yacht Club) ($$$$) You can kind of see parts of Illuminations on and ADR around 8:15-8:30 pm
3. Shula's Steakhouse (Swan & Dolphin) ($$$$) Really good steaks
4. Victoria & Alberts (Grand Floridian) ($$$$$) I can honestly say this could be #1 but I have never eaten here.

If you want off property then I can't help ya very much. Sorry.. :(

Ah man, so many options (assuming you mean out of the parks, but ON Disney property as in resorts).
1.) Artist Point has a phenomenal soup and a buffalo strip entree, along with the every-popular berry cobbler dessert. This is my favorite all-around meal in terms of Apps to Dessert and wine list. Plus, Wilderness Lodge is our favorite resort to stroll around.
2.) Narcoossee's - This is one of our other favorites and my steak and lobster choices have been cooked to perfection each visit. If timed right with Wishes fireworks show, you can go out to the wrap-around deck with your drinks and enjoy the show from across the water, with the Wishes firework music played above head. The Grand Floridian is also another wonderful resort to explore before or after dinner.

Personally, on ANY vacation, I don't want to eat at ANY chain restaurant I can find back home. Cattleman's is a Texas Roadhouse equivalent and I don't like the feeling of leaving Disney when I'm in Disney. Nothing brings you back down to reality like driving through ghetto Orlando to an Applebees.

Will you have a car? Some of the best restaurants in Orlando are right down the street in Celebration, Columbia is awesome!

Ohana has a great show and that bread pudding dessert is out of this world!

Emeril's at Citywalk. We ate there 6 years ago and loved it. We have also eaten at his Vegas restaurants in 2013(and all our prior Vegas trips ) and will go again next time in Vegas.Since we no longer rent a car when doing WDW we don't go to Universal.

Artist Point or Citrico's if your looking for signature, The Wave or Kona if you're not. 'Ohana was the most disappointing meal of our week at Disney.

I totally agree! You can't go wrong with any of these choices!

But for Top of the World Lounge, you need to be staying DVC. It's located on the top of BLT.

please tell more of your tastes, location thoughts and budget and we can surely help more

These our favorite restaurants so far. And not in any particular order.

- Victoria & Alberts
- Narcoossee's
- Artist Point
- Fulton's (best calamari I every had)
- We are defiantly trying the New Boat House in Down town.

If you are looking for a cheaper casual meal, I would highly recommend going to Olivia's at the Old Key West resort! It is a very friendly welcoming environment, perfect for a family meal!

These are places we like in resorts in no order of likes...
Ohana(dinner)
Kona(breakfast and lunch)
Trails End(breakfast)
The Wave(breakfast)
Grand Floridian Cafe(dinner)
ESPN
Beaches and Cream
Boma(breakfast and dinner)
Maya Grill

What meal? If it's lunch, I find it hard to believe no one's suggested Sanaa (or maybe they have and I didn't notice).

I'm all about Kimonos if you like sushi. IMO, it's the best sushi on property outside of a signature restaurant. If you want a relaxing meal, go as they open or not too long after 5:30pm b/c they have karaoke nightly (unless you'd like to be there for it, of course).

On an off day from the parks, I would choose to take the monorail & boats around the MK resort area & explore the grounds. They have lounges that serve pretty good food so you can stop at more than one & make a meal out of that (I like Poly & WL for this). Not a restaurant, but something different to do on your off day. :)

We only visit five TS eateries at WDW when we go there for an actual meal. *
1) We prefer
. . . fine food
. . . excellent, top notch service
. . . innovative dishes with flair and quality
. . . overall great value
. . . relaxed and soothing dining atmosphere
. . . behaved and somewhat quiet patrons
2) The only sit-down restaurants we routinely visit,
. . . Sanaa - Animal Kingdom Villas Resort (one of my personal favs)
. . . Artist Point - Wilderness Lodge Resort
. . . Citricos - Grand Floridian Resort
. . . Shula's Steakhouse - Dolphin Resort (no DDP)
. . . Il Mulino - Swan Resort (no DDP)
3) Our (nearby) off-site Recommendations:
. . . Bull & Bear - Waldorf Astoria Bonnet Creek, Fine Dining
. . . Café D'Antonio - Celebration, Casual Italian
. . . Columbia - Celebration, Casual Spanish/Cuban
. . . Fish Bones - Hwy192, Seafood
. . . Venetian Room - Caribe Royale Hotel, Fine Dining

Scupper, we always try to follow your recommendations and we haven't been disappointed yet!

I would say Boma. Really good (and a lot of unusual) food, beautiful resort setting. Make an occasion out of it, visiting AKL, seeing the animals, look around Boma at the decorations, visit their interesting lobby and store.
