What resorts would you not return to and why?

CBR, was way too spread out, but we enjoyed our stay it was many years ago when the CBR had just opened...We still had a great visit.

The Music, actually I am not impressed by any of the value resorts. Maybe it is just to way they are set up, and the service we had. Upon check in they checked us into a room full of old pizza boxes and beer!
Does anyone else think this is a problem?:earsgirl: :earsboy:

CBR

It was clean but way too large. Our room was supposed to be preferred but it was still way too far away. Some don't mind the walk but after lugging two toddlers in the parks the last thing I wanted to do was to walk that far to get a refill on the pop.

The bus service was terrible. We waited over 30 mins for a bus from AK and DTD. When they did come they were packed!

At check in we didn't get a map to the resort so we spent half the week wandering around trying to find the closest bus stop. I think the layout is confusing to me. Once we'd get on those paths to the bus stops we would go in circles. I didn't know about the maps until I saw another family with one and I asked. I went to the front desk to get one.

I also didn't know they would take you to your room. They handed us our stuff and said here you go! Do you know how long a walk it is to Martinique from the guest house especially when you have NO CLUE where you are going???

We found the pool to be okay for our needs. However, the baby pool didn't have the fountains on most of the time.

I had to call and call for our luggage once we got our room. It took them over three hours to bring us our luggage!!

So there you have it. I wish I would not have upgraded our resort choice when the 7/4 package came out. I have stayed at the allstarts and was completely satisfied. For all of our trouble the front desk gave us a late checkout as late as we needed at no charge. Our plane didn't leave until 7pm, our driver was picking us up at 5pm so we stayed until 5pm at no charge.

We are going to try different resorts hopefully the experience will be better.

CBR! hated the huge layout, great distance to the main pool/food court and the food court was not what we expected (we prefer the value food courts) and half the offerings were closed! plus it was a long dark hike to our room from the bus stop and 2nd floor in 100 degrees w/out an elevator... UGH!! the upside was that we saw illuminations from our outside corridor!

looking forward to pop century

I did say CBR and notice that a lot of others did, too. One thing I did think about when I was there was that the room itself was very nice and so quiet. We had our car that was parked right outside. IF I stayed there again, just used my car, did not rely on the food court and just used the quiet pool, it would be a nice, quiet, peaceful play to stay. Really nice with the hammocks. Just a thought.

I don't ever want to stay in a value resort again. We stayed at ASMo once, and it's just not for our family. The rooms are way to small and the beds are horrible. Now, if it were the ONLY way I could stay on property I may rethink this! I may sound spoiled; but I am a deluxe kind of girl!;)

Since I have been to Disney only 2 times-- 9/01 and 6/04 and have stayed only at Port Orleans Riverside and French Qtr, I really don't have much to compare it to. I didn't like POR when we first got there b/c we were in the Alligator Bayou and seemed a long hike from the parking lot, to the bus stop and to the restaurants. But once I figured out where everything was, I really liked it. The room was very clean, mousekkeepers were awesome, -- I can honestly say I can't think of one person or situation where we were not treated wonderfully. When I stayed at the FQ in 01, our bldg was in a great location to the parking lot altho it was a ways from the pool. B/c there are 5 in my family, we have to stay in a moderate or better. I would love to try to WL or Poly. I have heard alot of people say negative things about the Contemporary. The biggest complaint I have heard is staying in the Tower and you hear all the noise plus get fumes from the Monorail. Don't understand that as I thought is was electric. Perhaps I'm wrong? Any other feedback?

Any of the value resorts. Nothing actually "wrong" with them - we simply like having more than a "place to sleep" while at WDW.

The Poly. We spent a weekend there on our last trip. All three of us experienced a poor nights sleep both nights we were there. This was the first time that I have stayed at a Disney resort that we were disturbed by others above us. We also found the setup of the bathroom inconvenient [ ALL bathroom amenities inside the enclosed bathroom area ]. The Contemporary is also the same way. Disney must have realized the negative aspect of this setup - no resort built afterward has this layout.

Fumes? Noise? Both are myths. The first and only time I stayed at the CR Tower was on the 5th floor - directly above the Grand Concourse. The monorail is soundless. And the rooms are quite well insulated.

You're right: the monorail is electric and emits no fumes.

Thanks for the info. I'll tell my friends they must have been hearing voices and smelled something else!!

CSR.

It just didn't have the Disney magic. It was more like a convention center motel, rather than Disney. We didn't get to use the pool since the weather was cool, never even saw it since it was so far from our room. We hated the Pepper Market food offerings and mandatory gratuity. But the worst was the double beds!

I have stayed at POR, POFQ, CBR, OKW and AKL. All of them were fine to me. :)

::yes:: I will have to agree. We have stayed at all of the values and all of the moderates and CSR was our least favorite too.

AS Sports- Once you go up (Poly, WL, AKL) it is nearly impossible to go back! That and we don't have kids...so we shy away from the resorts where there seems to be more families...not that I'm opposed to kids...We jus want a more "adult" feel to our resort.

CBR- Way too big.

Husband loves the All Stars... great theming for the price and we aren't in the rooms that much. Kids like it too. But after going during "grad nights"... no way do I want to go back. I also like the idea of having a pool slide and a restaurant on-site, which the All Stars lacked. I also hated waiting so long to check in.

Last year we tried POR because of FTP. I instantly fell in love with it, but it took my husband a bit longer to warm up to it, probably because he had a bad first impression: we arrived very early in the morning and the CM wouldn't take our luggage to store. Hubby was steamed about leaving our stuff in the car all day. I loved all the lush, meandering paths in the Alligator Bayou and appreciated being near the quiet pool/laundry area. We loved the main pool area and the hot tub was a little off to the side and a bit secluded, so it was not oppressively crowded. Hubby thought the drawback to the scenic footprint was that it was not so convenient to the parking areas, whereas the All Stars was. Depends on where you are located, but after looking at the map I had to agree that some buildings were nowhere NEAR the parking lot. The bus service was only okay. The main problem was waiting for the busses to return us to the resort, especially from Epcot. After a couple of days, we just drove. I'd go back in a heartbeat! It's the cheapest place for our family of 5 to stay on-site. (I wish the other moderates could arrange to have trundle beds, too, so that we could have more options.)

Animal Kingdom Lodge - our experience there was just bad all around. We hardly ever saw any animals for the huge price we paid for the room. The room was dark, the ds complained they didnt like the bunkbeds as "we have these at home", while the bus transportation was good, it just took forever to get back to the lodge no matter where you were, no boat rental etc., kids got eaten up by bugs and refused to go in the pool, I got food poisioning at boma and had to excuse myself in the middle of dh business dinner, the craftsman not interacting with the guest, like I read they would, little ds saying the story teller was boring. O.K. our old pastor was a missionary in africa so he heard lots of stories, little ds kept repeating the mantra to me, this is my worst vacation ever, take me back to the polynesian, ugh.

Any of the All Stars. We stayed at ASMo last year and our stay was soooo bad that we switched resorts after 2 nights! I killed my desire to ever stay at a Value resort again.

I've only stayed at ASMo and CBR and the Disney Inn(obv. many many moons ago!! LOL) But we(myself, hubby & boys) LOVED CBR. We really enjoyed our stay there. I would like to try Poly & CR on our next trip(well that's the plan so far! LOL)

PO Riverside. Stayed there for one night last year before moving to the Poly for the rest of the week. Pretty loud atmosphere, wild kids racing strollers around the lobby running into people, fairly chaotic check-in, confusing layout, long walk to food court from room. On top of that after finally getting the baby to sleep VERY late that night, somebody proceeds to try to enter our room, then bangs on the door really loudly. We just didn't have a good experience there.

We'd stayed at PO French Quarter years ago and liked it much better. We also actually liked Coronado Springs a few years ago...it was very quiet compared to the other moderates (seemed more adult-oriented), volcano pool and hot tub were fantastic, and the food court and Maya Grill breakfast buffet were quite good. I didn't like the added gratuity thing at the Pepper Market either but considering the variety of food they had I didn't mind it as much. Also the buses here were great...never waited more than 10 minutes, and they were never crowded. Of course, now that I think about it...it was the week after 9/11 so the WDW was pretty quiet in general. But if I stayed at a moderate again I would go with CSR or POFQ, especially now that it's been refurbished.

I'm kind of surprised at the number of people that have mentioned the WL in this thread. I've never stayed there but had always read rave reviews about it. I did always wonder about the transportation thing though...that's always seemed to be a weak point.

:D

I don't think I'd like to stay in any of the All-Stars again, even though I've been to the ASMusic. I've stayed at moderates since then and none of the deluxes. The values just don't have as much appeal to me. I may think differently when i have a family someday, but right now moderates and deluxes are it for me.
