What resorts are close to Disney's HHI resort? Have any DVC'ers stayed

My sister has a week reserved at Marriott's Harbour Point and Sunset Pointe at Shelter Cove which is right across from Disney's HHI. We are going to Hilton Head 6/20. She will be staying with her family at the Marriott while we are staying at Disney. The Marriott looks pretty nice but I can tell you more in June. When are you going to HHI?

Well...we were going to HHI in July. We were booked in a 2 br for 6 nights. THEN we all caved and wanted to go to Disney instead and I just happen to get Vero for 4 nights. SO.....we cancelled HHI for 4 nights at Vero and 6 or 7 at Disney. HOWEVER...... I was thinking we might leave a couple of days early and stay one or two nights on the way down. We don't have enough points for HHI but was wondering what was close by OCEAN FRONT so we could at least visit HHI while there to check it out.

No, they are harbourside, same as Disney's. Oceanside look into a rental villa in Palmetto Dunes Plantation, Marriott Grande Ocean, and I think there is a Hilton in the Palmetto Dunes area too.

No it is not oceanfront. It is the closest resort to Disney's HHI. There are other Marriott resorts that are on the beach in HH. My sister only chose this location so that our families could stay close together. Renting a villa in Palmetto Dunes is a good idea but many of them have a 3 night minimum in summer. You could check out some of the Marriotts on the island. There is also a Holiday Inn Oceanfront that is fairly reasonably priced. Not super close to Disney but not that far either.

The closest resort to the DVC resort is Harbourside III, which is directly across the harbour from the Disney resort. Ocean Point and Harbour Point are on the same marsh as the Disney resort. They are about 3/4 mile to drive there.

Harbourside III is right in Shelter Cove - San Miguels Restaurant is on the ground floor of the same building. It is about 500 yards from the Disney resort right across the bridge.

If you are 100% sure of dates you want, I'd give bidding on priceline a try, it's what we do when we want to stay on HHI if we can't get Disney's or if we are arriving at HHI late & don't want to use points for that day.

You must bid on Resort Level only for HHI in order to get an oceanfront resort. We do this often during summer months and have always had our bids accepted (now if we could just get as lucky when we buy Powerball tickets ) and we haven't paid more than $80 - $90 per night

If you bid resort level and it's accepted you will get either Westin Resort at Port Royal Plantation, Hilton Resort at Palmetto Dunes (I think this would be closest location to Disney's), Crowne Plaza Resort or Marriot Resort & Spa - I think these may both may be located in Palmetto Dunes too; each of these resorts is on ocean. We've gotten stayed at Westin and Hilton, both very nice; have stopped in for a quick look at Marriott Resort & Spa and Crowne Plaza and they seem nice as well. Westin does not provide rollaways so if you'd need bring a blowup mattress but Hilton Resort will provide rollaway. Westin has interior hallways, Hilton is kind of an open-air/courtyard type access into rooms. Hilton has kitchenette type thing like in DVC studio and definitely wins for room size over Westin. Here is link to Marriott Resort & Spa because there are soooo many Marriott locations on HHI and iirc Marriott Barony Beach is directly adjacent to Westin Resort & I think Barony's property went up to the beachfront too as Westin's does, but Barony Beach Resort is not available via priceline bid.

We like Island Links Resort in the Port Royal Plantation. It is not oceanfront, but is very nice with 2 pools, one pool is zero entry. It has 2 and 3 bedroom units. There is one or two stand alone houses that are 4 bedrooms.

Oops, sorry for the misinformation. Thanks for correcting me. I actually thought that OP and HP were where Harbourside is. I guess we would have been surprised this summer. If anyone has a non-Disney timeshare though, we had no trouble trading for a week at Ocean Point and it sounds like it is still pretty close to HH DVC.
