What reason did you pick your Home Resort?

I purchased a resale from the Timeshare Store at OKW in 1999 because of the dues. The Wilderness Lodge Villas were not yet built but once they opened I had been staying there everytime whether it was May, March, November or December using the 7 month booking window til Christmas 2005. I remember it all too well, I called exactly at the 7 month window and the WLV were booked:worried: . They only had availablity at OKW or the new SSR resort so I booked the SSR to try something new and was put on a waitlist for the WLV. The WLV never opened up so we spent the first half of our 10 day vacation at SSR. I called everyday while we were there morning, noon, and evening literally and the WLV opened up halfway through. I was so excited and relieved, don't get me wrong SSR was a wonderful deluxe resort, but I fell in love with the WL. So I came home from vacation, sold OKW and bought at the WLV. Now I have the comfort to know that at the 11 months window I can book my annual December vacation and never be disappointed. So I guess it all depends on whether you fell yet. If you didn't got with OKW and know that you can always book SSR at the 7 months out. If you think you may like the AKL, wait a year or so and buy a resale from the Timeshare Store. Good Luck.

BCV for 11 month window at Spring Break as well as location, SAB, food options and room service, valet, 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom and high resale value.

VWL for 11 month window for XMAS as well as location to MK, food court, food options and room service, 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom, valet and the lodge and pool are great.

We bought BCV sight unseen after stay at the BC one year. The decor,
location, SAB, and oh yea location did it for us. Added SSR for the extra
points to stay at BCV more often but with 12 more years.:rotfl2:

We have the BWV for the Food and Wine Festival and for the Boardwalk and standard view options. We love the location and the "hotel" atmosphere, the nightime activities at Jellyrolls and on the boardwalk.

We bought BWV because that was what they were selling. Stayed there immediately and then didn't stay there again for about 2 years. Bought several addons and supplemented at those resorts with the BWV points. Then, back to BWV and realized we love it best as a WDW location. We will buy some AKV points for 2 reasons -like the AK theming and savannahs and also the 15 years. We won't buy till next year however.

We bought SSR because of the longer contract, because we would be happy staying at any of the resorts, and because we will seldom book >7 months in advance.

SSR was a no brainer for us!

The price couldnt be beat....the extra years...and the number of rooms pretty much guarentees us any dates we need at our 11 month window!

we were able to afford an extra 50 pts becuase of the discounts!

Good luck!

:)

We stayed at BCV on our "once in a lifetime trip" Came home to the "missing WDW blues" We loved BCV several months after being home we bought OKW sight unseen..the reason...cheaper, we got a good resale deal.

We have been home once, and love OKW and are very glad we bought. Our next trip home is in May

We bought VWL primarily because of the theming. I don't think we ever would have purchased DVC if they hadn't built at WL.

We bought BWV later on primarily because of the location and amenities of the Boardwalk.

I wanted to be at WL.....at xmas time...
Ya know...1st week of dec....when everyone wants to go...

Funny thing is this year....not even going to WDW
this DEC....
Decided to go in may....and try F&W...festival...

Just booked may...only thing left was ssr...
Going home to WL..in OCt...

We purchased OKW because at the time OKW and BWV were the only offerings, and we liked the size and feel of the OKW units as well as the "vacation home" feel over a hotel feel to the place. We have not regretted it for a moment of the last 10 years, and it is still our favorite DVC.

We added AKV because we wanted to ensure having occational trips or even just nights there for savanna watching. LOVE the theme there too.

We were considering purchasing a sold out resort from the timeshare store. The home resort did not make a difference to us. On a trip to DLR we toured the SSR models and decided to purchase there because of the extra years, and the great incentive that was offered at that time. We knew we would eventully add on elsewhere but reserved our decision until our first visit in December. We toured all of the DVC resorts, and loved them all, we came back and added on at SSR. We just fell in love with this property, and really like it the best. We may add on at OKW, but only to get the low point requirement for the grand villa. We are staying at OKW in March to see if we like staying there.

Purchased BCV - Location (walk to two parks), Theme (love the beachy theme), Pool (SAB rocks!), and Disney was selling it.

We knew about resale but not how easy it was. We considered OKW for the GV's, larger rooms and lower points.

VWL is our soul match:love:

BWV is our thrifty selves. However, the more we stay here, the more we appreciate it's specialness..:flower3:

VB is the beach house we could never afford, but would love to have. Even DH who doesn't swim in or like or even appreciate the ocean, loves the resort. We stayed in a garden inn room once in March, and DH was ready to buy points, so we did:goodvibes

We bought AKV because I love design of the AKL. AK is the one theme park we always visit, and the safari is a must do attraction for us each time...so AKV as home, is a natural! We're nearly retired and we expect this to be our one DVC that holds value longer...we'll see...this one is more speculative than the other purchases...this may be the one we sell, down the line, when we don't travel as much.:sad1:

We take extended family with us often. We take lots of shortish, 3-5 night stays a year...we're happy with what we have. Except for a VB/WDW combo, most visits will be at just a single home resort. Once a year, we'll throw in a night or two at BCV if we can.

Bought AKV this morning...our first DVC purchase, and now our home resort. :)

My wife and I fell in love with AKL back in 2001...when we had a 14 day stay. Our kids really have liked it to, over the past couple trips, and it's almost an "attraction" unto itself (along with a meal at Boma's).

We've contemplated buying into DVC over the past few years, but the time was never right..and the resort was never compelling for us. We always said that if they added DVC to AKL (or the contemp, our 2nd favorite resort), we were "in". When we started hearing about AKV, we knew that we were in.

We have two home resorts, BCV and BWV. We just love the location, walking to Epcot and MGM is what sold us. After we purchased BWV, BCV came along. I have always loved the Yacht and Beach clubs for their theming, SAB and their location as well. I have never regretted our purchases.

Can you describe VWL at x-mas time? Pleas.
Thank you. That might be the scale tipper.:crazy2:

I had a choice of OKW or BWV. I loved the Boardwalk area!! I am so glad with the decision I made. I would do it all over again! :)

I'm not Bobbi, but I can tell you about VWL at Christmas! I think the lobby there always has the BEST Holiday decor of all the resorts (DVC or otherwise), and just feels so warm and inviting during holiday time. Even though we never stay there, we LOVE to visit and soak it all in during the holidays.
