What really makes you happy at Disney?

  • The look on my son's face when he pulled the sword from the stone!
  • Driving under the Disney sign.
  • Driving into FL and getting our "Free Cup" of orange juice at the visitor's center and grabbing every Disney flyer in sight in orde to start our vacation just a little bit earlier!
  • "Dead men tell no tales"...with the spooky breeze cooling you off...then breaking into a rousing chorus of "yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me" accompanied by my boys.
  • Sending home an email with us as morphed with an animal in the What If Lab.
  • Feeling the heat from the flames on the stage during the Indiana Jones show.
  • Watching my boys trade pins and get huge smiles over the wonderful treasures they are getting.
  • Seeing my youngest son look amazed/dazed/happy/in awe when Soccerer Mickey saves the day in Fantasmic.
  • The Coral Reef for lunch...my boys spotting the turtle as he swims by!
  • Not waiting to ride on any ride all day long...YES!!
  • Riding Soarin' for the first time and hearing everyone clapping when the ride ended.
  • The smell of the forest during Soarin'.
  • Eating at the Earl of Sandwich.
  • Watching Miyuki (sp?) make candy animals.
  • Eating at the Garden Grill (my boys LOVE Chip and Dale).
  • Playing hide-n-seek with Stich at Animal Kingdom.

  • My son's face when he met his hero, Buzz Lightyear.
  • Dancing around the store with Donald Duck at the end of the night.

I just love the feeling you have inside from the time you get there til well after you leave. Everything else is a bonus!!!!

Since I've been married, on our arrival day my DH usually likes to take a nap when we arrive. I am too excited to sleep so I usually take that time and explore the hotel - maybe look in the gift shop, get a snack etc... I remember taking a bike ride around POR, sitting on the balcony at BWI and sitting in the lobby by the fireplace at WL. I just love that feeling when your vacation has just begun and you have so much to look forward to!

*Planning!!! Planning our trip, planning other people's trips....
*After Illuminations when "We Go On" filters through the park while you leave.
* Listening to the first few bars of Spectro when the lights go down with my family. All 4 of us tear up every time.
*The Laughing Place on Splash
*Mickey Rice Krispy Bars
*Walking into MGM
*The Princesses boats in Fantasmic

I could go on, and on, and on..... :cloud9:

Trip Planning....

Riding the Monorail.....and getting my first glimpse of the Castle :cool1:

Entering the Magic Kingdom.... :cloud9:

Entering the Magic Kingdom.....

Eating a Mickey Mouse ice cream.... :woohoo:

Walking towards the Castle..... princess:

Riding Space Mountain.... :smooth:

Everything.... :cloud9: :bounce:

-eating my breakfast outside the food court and taking in the early morning sights of husbands getting coffee for their SOs, sometimes fog coming off from the pool, the absolute quietness of the place - till the birds realize I brought them breakfast! LOL
-getting a Mickey wake-up call.
-sitting along Sunset Blvd in MGM, listening to the 40's music, sipping an icy freeze drink, hearing far-awayish screams from TOT and just people watching.
-seeing palm-trees when I touch down at Orlando airport.
-hearing the theme music as I walk up to TOT, feeling the mist, taking in the outside atmosphere of TOT
-as I walk out of Epcot - seeing the twinkle/star blocks in the cement as I walk out.

Great thread! I love all the entries!!! Ely

All the hidden things that Disney does to continue the magic, no matter how small it may seem...

Seeing the castle at night, sharing it with my DF.

Seeing the look on a childs face, and anticipating my as of yet unconceived childrens reactions to the same things...

Wandering around the Disney Art galleries...

The Animation Studio at MGM, being able to draw a Disney character...

Trying to answer all the questions at Syd's on the way into MGM...

Sitting anywhere along the World Showcase on a breezy day, being completely happy to just be...

Having a beer in the Rose and Crown and people watching...

Making my DF try on every obnoxious hat while I take a picture for blackmail purposes...

Challenging DF to Mission Space Race after Mission Space...

Remembering the first time I saw Illuminations, Wishes, and Fantasmic...

Knowing that I have hundreds of "firsts" left to go, because with Disney, the fun never ends... :goodvibes

Just the feeling that I get walking in the park, has been magical since I was 2. . . .

I always remember taking my DH to Disney for his first time. . .

Riding the Ferry Boat to MK, feeling the cool breeze in my hair, watching the Castle get closer and closer. . .

Eating a Mickey Ice Cream Bar in the little hut on the water in Asia in AK, just me and DH, enjoying the breeze. . . .

The Tigers on the Jungle Trek. . . .

The Gorillas on the Safari Trek. . . .

Hearing "Love on a Roller Coaster" on Aerosmith. . . .

Getting those really great CM's in Haunted Mansion, I get picked on a lot, but it is really fun to be "stalked" in there, very creepy. . . .

Walking through the gardens and lobby of the Hollywood Tower Hotel. . . .

Having dinner at California Grill (awsome sushi) and watching Wishes. . . .

Dole Whips. . .

Yo Ho Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me. . . pirate:

Getting to sit in the front row of Aerosmith or Everest without even asking (happened 4 times on Aerosmith and once on Everest in Feb!!). . .

Riding TTA during the middle of a hot day to take a break and take in the great views of the castle. . .

Losing (every time) to DH on Buzz. . . :rotfl:

We are working on getting pregnant this summer, so now I just can't wait to take my future DD or DS!! I get all weepy reading all your posts. . . .

It is indeed THE happiest place on EARTH!!!!! :rolleyes1 :cool1: :yay:

**amends above list given by self** I agree...the only thing better than Disney magic is having kids...the only thing better than having kids??? Well of course, it's taking those little sweets to the Disney park of your choice and seeing THEM live the magic!! That right there is PRICELESS!! My best memories are seeing "Disney" through my children's eyes! They see wonder in a garbage can (hey so what that it talks!), they see a challenge to "live" through the briar patch, they see pure heaven when we pass under the sign...everything has gotten 100 times better doing Disney with them (and I LOVED Disney before we had them)!

Disney is magic...but Disney through the eye's of a child you love is the most powerful, beautiful and pure magic you will ever know! It's just perfect to watch the awe on a face you love so much in a place you love so much...to feel a little hand squeeze yours tighter when you try out new things...to hear that wonderful little laugh you already love so much take on a tone of amazement. SO many wonderful things Disney, but my favorite thing about Disney is watching my kids see everything with their eyes full of wonder and joy!!

- Walking down Main Street on our first day of vacation.
- Touring World Showcase prior to Illuminations.
- The British Invasion.

The anticipation of Illuminations

The sound of my luggage wheels crossing the wooden bridge going into the Poly lobby.

Early morning walk to Kona Island Cafe for coffee .
The smell of the monorail.
Walking into MK at opening.
The two cursed pirates playing checkers in the queqe of POTC.
Riding TTA in the afternoon.
Having a Mint Chip ice cream from Main Street Ice Cream parlor cone while I wait for the afternoon parade.
