What really makes you happy at Disney?

strollling around taking in all the details that went into each and every foot of the place and being amazed

see excited little kids who can hardly contain themselves :teeth: and the beaming faces of their parents so glad they are giving them happiness and the fact that that's the same for all the races and nationalities of families there

...remembering what it was like when those were my "little girls" when we went when they were kids and they were awestruck by mickey, the castle, the whole experience

feeling like a worry free kid again and relaxing...sigh...

not that tot isn't great but you can get thrill rides any place... but not the same feeling

oh & a mickey ears rice krispy treat doesn't hurt either

I just love the moment when my husband drives the car under 'that' sign and you see all the purple road signs. I have him slow down every year just so I can take a picture of the sign.

the tarmac at MCO or the orlando amtrak station. even though these arent on WDW property this makes me happy because i know i am only a limo ride away from what makes me really happy WDW.

From the parks:
- The background music in all of the areas, but especially in Epcot and in
Tomorrow Land.
- Seeing my DD2.5's face light up when she sees the castle.
- Sitting on a bench in Epcot near the lake, just to take a break.
- French toast loaf and mickey bars.
- The monorail smell

When we stayed at the WL:
- The smell of the lobby.
- The magic bars from Roaring Forks

The ferry to the MK

"THE" sign...it gets our adreneline rushing!

The castle, the hotel room, my kids saying, "Look out, mom's gonna run for it!"

Drag your wretched bodies to the center of the room! (my fave ride)

Planning, saving, waiting until we drive under that arch....priceless....

The moment in Spaceship Earth when you turn to face the Earth.. magical.
The CM's in TOT.
In fact, just being on the Tower of Terror. "Welcome back to those who have made it." :teeth: :teeth:
Squeezing my Mum's hand as we go under the WDW sign.
When any ride vehicle pulls up for me to get in, I get such a rush!
Hearing "Hold onto yer hats and glasses! Coz this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness!"
Lifting my feet up in Honey I Shrunk The Audience, and hearing everyone elses unexpected screams!
My first smell of that "Florida" smell.
The first hearing of an American accent. :goodvibes

1. Sitting by the pool at SAB with a lava flow "grown up drink", reading a magnificent book while my DH and DS swim, knowing in a few hours we'll have to go back to the room to get ready for dinner somewhere wonderful.

2. MVMCP

3. Wishes from ‘Ohana.

4. The first shower - you know, the one where you have been travelling and are hot and tired and gicky and just want to get cleaned and freshened up for your first day/night at WDW. Nothing feels better than getting clean and scrubbed up and knowing I have my whole vacation ahead of me.

5. "Welcome Home"

6. Hearing our name or having the beeper go off when our ADR time is ready.

7. Saying, “we can do that next time” and knowing that there will be a next time soon.

8. Planning, planning, planning, planning.

9. So much more...

Rocking in the rocking chairs at FW watching everyone get off the boats from a long day at MK - - their faces say it all!

I also love that I can read all of your thoughts and smile at every single one of them! Ahhhhh. . . the magic of Disney!

spotting the first monorail of the trip as we enter disney property.

entering whatever hotel we are staying at and exploring our new home for a while (never, never off property of course--big no-no)

sitting out on the balcony, deep breathing and taking it all in, the gardens, the lakes, the smells, the sounds--we're here and its ours.

remembering the memories and making many more :yay:

Watching the train roll in to the station in the morning at the Magic Kingdom and watching the expressions on the people around me. There is so much joy. It's truley a magical moment.

How sappy am I that I am bawling just reading this! I CAN"T believe it!

adding...
measuring my children's growth by how they react to things compared to last time.

Swimming in the Hippie Dippy pool at POP, listening to the great 60's music.

Buying an ice cream on Main Street and eating it in front of the castle as I watch families seeing the castle for the first time.

Watching the evening parade at Super Soap Weekend, waving to my favorite soap stars!

I'm sure there are many more. I've only been to Disney once but I came back with tons of great memories.

I just like relaxing on a bench every once in awhile (like the guy in the Disney vacation planning video does :) )

What a wonderful, happy thread! Things that make me happy (in addition to most of what everyone else said!!! :goodvibes )

1.The music on Main Street--I love that style of music, nothing like that old Americana feeling.

2. Dole whips while waiting for the parade or Spectromagic in the MK

3. Illuminations

4. Less crowds :goodvibes

5. Going with someone where its their first time. Seeing their reactions on rides they have never been on, like TOT

- It may sound weird- but the smell that the "dark attractions" have. They all have the same smell! I LOVE it!!

- Standing in line at Port Orleans Riverside waiting to check in (next time will make 6 in a row!)

- Seeing a hidden detail- either a hidden Mickey or something else, like the names of those who helped build the park in the windows on mainstreet, or hearing the sounds of people talking from the 2nd floor when it's really quiet

- Standing in the lobby of ToT

- Getting ready for bed while watching the WDW channel in a constant loop on TV

- Getting in the ride vehicles on Spaceship Earth

- Reading all of the little kid quotes on the walls in the queue for The Land

- Seeing the part where Mr. Toad hands over the deed in the Winnie the Pooh ride

- seeing something that reminds me of being a little kid at WDW

:simba: :stitch: :dumbo: :figment: :goofy: :maleficen :hmghost: :sulley: :tigger: :ccat: :mickeyjum :donald:

Sitting on the balcony watching the sunrise over the Arusha Savannah at AKL, watching the animals and the smells from the lobby there. No one awake but me. Pure peace.
Watching DD 8 and DS 6 get excited about "every little thing".
Remembering being a kid!!!

1. the gates
2. kilamanjaro safaris
3. seeing goofy and the gang
4. chocolate mickey rice krispie
5. the castle

Corrine thank you for reminding me of the Torches being blown out at Illuminations! I got goosebumps thinking about it. I didn't realize how special that was to me! What a great thread! :goodvibes
