What qualifies one as a "Founder"

I keep reading about people sayingf they are/will be "founders" in this resort and that resort. If I bought into Kidani before it opened, does that make me a founder? If not; what does?

I think this started with AKV, and the current "founding" promotional has ended.

Basically, if you bought a certain number of points by a certain date, they called you a "founding member" of the resort and will weave your name into a tapestry that will be displayed.

I don't think any other resort has had a "founding member" promotion.

For AKV it was 150 or 160 points, (I don't remember which) purchased between 2/1/07 and 3/1/07.

If you buy your DVC contract at DL you get founding member rights to purchase GCV when available. Probably no fancy tapestry like AKV but the pre-purchase perk is nice!

OK... now this "pre-purchase" thing has me intrigued (and I bet others too). How did founding members find out and have a chance to pre-purchase AKV? I wasn't a member then so maybe it's an obvious answer. Maybe the opportunity was offered to everyone? Which leads to question 2...

How would one get in on the pre-sales opportunity for KT's assuming it's the real deal and that it happens? I would assume based on timelines for AKV that KT should be going on now????

They mailed and/or emailed all the members with the information. The pre-sale is only a month or so before it is opened to the public. So you probably have a bit of a wait for KT. As far as I know, they haven't even formally announced that KT is part of DVC.

Keep in mind that Disney offered better deals down the road on AKV. The pre-sale folks didn't get the best deal.

Besides, there was so much legal jargon on that thing, Im sure they will line the pet cages with it. Legally, even that was a possibility
