What psychology of mk do you know about?

As far as I know that's correct. When we stayed at AKL we were told not to bring any plastic straws or balloons onto the property. And all the straws you get at AK are paper. The concept of paper straws was so bizarre to most of my friends that I brought some home for them as cheap souvenirs.

I actually think when it first opened there were NO straws...not even paper.

all of the zoos ive ever been to are the same way. paper straws and no lids

Check out the Imagineering Field Guides - they have one for each of the parks at WDW (I'm not sure if they have on for the waterparks or Disneyland though)

They do have one for Disneyland, but the one for Hollywood Studios isn't due out until next month.

Amazing construction shots! Thank you so much for sharing them. If you don't mind me asking, how did you obtain these? Did you have a relative who worked on the WDW construction? Very cool shots. Thanks again for sharing.

Which page are these on?? I am not seeing them Thanks

This is one of my favs

The back side of TOT is painted pink so that when you are looking accross the lagoon in Epcot towards Morroco it blends in to the rest of the pink buildings.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

I copied and pasted this to an email to my husband who is in Dallas on business. This is what his first reply: Huh??

This is greek to me??

Then I replied back TOWER OF TERROR.

He then sent this back:
I do not speak in disney acronyms? If u say tot it means a screaming 2 year old child with his back painted pink?

Thanks again...... They were really neat to look at.

Look for some of the second floor windows on Main St. to mysteriously open and close before and after a parade.

That happens for the speakers hidden in the windows.

The popcorn stand just inside the MK tunnel is put there for the smell, it doesn't actually sell all that much popcorn to make it worth it for them to leave it there. Its part of entering the show.

Disney purposely placed the facade and railroad up high in front, so that from the moment you pass through the initial gates you can't see anything inside the park. Instead, you see the "marquee" of flowers across the front. As you pass through the tunnels under the railroad, you'll see large posters of various rides (upcoming attractions). Usually on the left entrance side, just inside the park, there's a popcorn stand. Why? It's for the SMELL...that smell you get when you enter a theater's lobby.

As you walk down Main Street toward the Castle, look at the names of the businesses in the 2nd and 3rd story windows. These are the Opening Credits...the names of the people who made both the Magic Kingdom and the Disney Company great. And when you pass that, you're at the Castle and the park's hub - the Main Attraction - and the magic officially starts.

Not psychology but fun

2nd ring in the pavement is a “fairy ring” formed by paving stones just beyond the well. This marks the spot where a huge oak tree once stood. It was removed when the fast pass machines were put in. If you stand in the middle of the fairy ring on the night of a full moon and call out “Leota” three times, she will come briefly to one of the upper windows of the mansion with her candle.

I wanted to shout "Leota" on the night when I was last there, as I was there on the night of a full moon but I was too shy to do it.

Okay, memory fading on me....where is this 'fairy ring'?

That seriously sounds like something my DH would say. :rotfl:

Just general things I've noticed in my many trips to DW and DL...

-Speak to the CMs, they've ALWAYS been nice and helpful. Many of them also seem to be more than happy to share Disney facts and info. Maybe not psychology directly but I find this a refreshing change from normal life where people are less than enthused when you ask a question or try and strike up a conversation. For us, that's part of the magic.

-I notice people--as a whole--tend to be a little nicer and a little more polite than in the, "real," world. Of course, there are always exceptions, I'm talking generally here.

-Don't know if this is intentional or not but all of the water/waterways in the parks are certainly soothing. There's just something soothing about water. Of course, being in the middle of FL may have something to do with it as well... pirate:

-I find the different storylines for each area/attraction which have been handed down/changed over the years by the CMs to be quite fun. Gets me in the mood for HM (for instance) with their, "attitudes," there. Not like pretty much all other theme parks where you get on line for a ride, wait, check out the pretty things they may have put there to occupy your time and then get on. With Disney, they try to keep you totally immersed in whatever fantasy you're supposed to be experiencing. That's why there are plenty of parks with better rides but we always go back to Disney.

-They just get it right. How many stories have you heard of something going wrong for a guest and the CM just made it right without the guest having to make a big deal of it. This is customer service at its finest. They just make it right.

That's about it for now.

Oh, and you can (or could) get a CM out of character. We did the KTTK tour many moons ago (when they still gave you the pin which looked like a key) and our guide was great. When she took us to the utilidoors, she stopped in the stairwell and said, "Ok, I'm offstage now, you can ask me anything you'd like about life as a CM." She was very straight and honest with us. Was interesting. She didn't have bad things to say, btw. I'm guessing they do control that as well. pirate:

Thanks for sharing. I know quite a few people who roll their eyes at me when I use Disney acronyms too! :goodvibes

um......I guess I don't get why trashcans being so close together does anything? Explain please!?

I love psychology and human behavior, so I hope this thread gets popular.

I also read the the trash cans in Tokyo Disney are further apart because the Japanese culture is less likely to litter.

I just thought of a couple!

Go into the general store on main street and pick up the phone, you can hear a conversation between a mom and daughter that seems to take place at the turn of the century (I have heard it once in 2004 on the first night of the trip but the park was packed so I would like to do it again when it is a lil emptier)

To answer the person's question about the music on the sassagoula river boats at POR. Yes, this happens on the busses as well depending on what resort you are going to the music will be reflective of the resort just as the music changes depending on which park you are going to on the bus as well.

This one is my favorite, The reason why Peter Pan's flight is positioned where it is is because you are venturing from England into Colonial america (Liberty Square) so you are leaving the old world and entering the new world!

That is so amazing and cool! Disney was genius! That makes complete sense!! Love the peter pan ride
