Hello All!
We are taking our 1st Disney cruise this December and we are a family of 3. I requested a private table and understand this is just a request. Is it common to have a party of this size seated with another large table? We are traveling on the Disney Magic on 12/10 from Miami.
Thank You!l

I can't speak to a party of three, but we are a party of 5 and have always received a private table as requested.:)

My husband and I travel as a party of 2 a lot and I always request a private table, so far my requests have always been granted.

As noted, most such requests are honored. Sometimes they are not.

Typically a party of 3 would most likely be seated with others. But not always.

We are a family of 3 and have sailed on two Disney cruises, both on the Fantasy. Without any dining requests we were seated with a family of 5 at an 8-top on the first and alone at a 4-top on the second.

We were always a party of two and the first time, we were on our own and the second time was with a group.

It is always a request but you should be fine. Just know that although your table will be "private" there will probably be an inch to two between tables since space does not dictate having actual standard space when 8 tops are split into 2 4 tops etc. You could get lucky and get a regular 4 top. So it'll be just enough that they'll treat your tables as separate and if you keep to yourself have it less awkward but it won't be enough that you may not hear other conversations etc.

Our recent Fantasy cruise, we were assigned to a 6 top, another couple and us. Apparently the other 2 didn't show up or cancelled the cruise. We spent most evenings included in the conversation with the 4 top next to us (mom, dad and 2 adult children). We could have been at an 8 top.

we've had a table to ourselves on a couple of cruises .... Most BORING Dinners EVER - while cruising!!!

ME: What did you do today?
DW: Same as you
DS: Same as you
DD: Same as you ... DAAAAAAAAAD stop asking that question!!

My family tends to be on the introverted side - but when we cruise we do loving having tablemates. And the way DCL does it ... you are not having dinner with strangers ... you are having meals with new friends, since you will be at the same table in each dining room.

And, we've found that when DCL matches dining companions, they do a phenomenal job.

On our engagement/friend's cruise we often ended up playing games of funny face or peak abo with kids around us. Parents didn't seem to amused but hey when your kid starts the game who am I to deny them that joy haha. Of course we stopped if kids were told to stop but eh to me a kid having a good (but quiet) time in the dinning room is better then them screaming their head off form boredom.

I did not make a table request on our first 2 cruises. As a family of 4 we were sat alone each time. The next cruise I haven't specified either. I do have a Gluten Allergy and wonder if that is why we were sat separate.

We have made great friends with people that we have been sat with in the past, Disney usually does a pretty good job at finding people who will get along, so we would never request a private table. But if it is important to you, I hope you get it.
