what party size gets a private table?

We just finished a week on the Wonder with our kids and their kids, 11 in all. Our reservations were linked and we did not put in a special request to all be seated together. However, we wound up at our own table, as noted earlier, in the center of Tiana's and Animators, but by a window in Tritan's. Wife and I have been on three cruises by ourselves and were seated at a table for 8...random folks, each time. Most were couples, some we still keep in contact with from NYC and Scotland. Because people will be people, some were not folks we would pick to sit by. We still met the mouse(s), wore the pirate outfits, did the scavenger hunts and cooking classes and survived to book other cruises.

They may well have changed it since then to default food allergies to non-shared tables. When I added gluten-free onto my reservation for February, I was specifically asked if I wanted my party to have our own table because of it...Especially with kids I can see how that would be super important...That said... PLEASE do not make up an allergy just to try and get a private table...
It would have to be a really recent change. We sailed on the Fantasy this past December. I had my son's gluten allergy documented in advance. No one suggested a private table, but I did request one upon booking the cruise. The request was not fulfilled when I boarded. So I went to Dining Changes asap & got one... Same thing happened on our Magic cruise over New Year's 2015/2016. The dining changes guy seemed annoyed that I wanted my own table for my son and myself, tried to talk me out of it, & showed no concern about my son's allergy. The CM on the Fantasy was much more polite, but the experience was the same on both ships.

We're booked for a cruise on the Wonder next July, & when I asked them to note my son's gluten allergy, no one suggested a private table. I had to request that, too. No doubt upon boarding I'll have to hoof it to Dining Changes & ask yet again.

I can't help but wonder if neither of our initial requests were granted because we had booked an inside stateroom. The guy at Dining Changes on the Magic kind of rolled his eyes when I gave him my stateroom number.

We've had a table to ourselves on every cruise we've taken. Our party has varied....6, 4, 3 and twice just two. We made no request our first cruise (party of six) but have done so every subsequent cruise. I usually check out the table with our number once we have boarded.

Shanti, when you made your requests before boarding was it through a TA or directly with DCL? If with a TA, perhaps that was the issue?

On our Honeymoon, we were seated with the other honeymooning couples. On our 2nd cruise (just the 2 of us), we were seated with two families of 3. I'm not sure what happened there. On our 3rd cruise (now there's 3 of us), we sat with a delightful family of 5 from Canada. On our 4th cruise, I booked late and was stuck with second seating. I went to the dining changes station when we arrived, and we were moved to a private table (I was surprised!) at the early dinner seating.
There seems to be more wiggle room on dining/seating assignments that I thought!

This was in February.

As to cabin, I have no clue but I only book one "step up" - a deck 2 OV.

We're 3 and have always gotten a private table when we asked. I don't think it will be a problem.

The last time we were on the Fantasy. My wife and I(30's), were sat at an 8 top with three other couples. Well the first night one couple left during appetizers and never came back. A few nights later I saw them at their own table.

Was not a problem for the rest of us, the six of us had the best time at dinner. The first time I ever look forward to going to dinner on a cruise. We were all the same age, shared wine, laughed so much, it was great.

Hello All!
We are taking our 1st Disney cruise this December and we are a family of 3. I requested a private table and understand this is just a request. Is it common to have a party of this size seated with another large table? We are traveling on the Disney Magic on 12/10 from Miami.
Thank You!l
2 or more when requesting

When my mom, sister, and I went on the Dream and then the Fantasy, we requested a table for just the three of us and we got it both times. My husband and I just got off the Fantasy on July 8th and we had requested to be by ourselves and they had granted our request.

On our cruise last cruise on the Magic out of Miami we had four cabins linked with a total of 14 people and we had a large table in each of the dining rooms and no table mates . I guess they can make the tables quite large if they want to .
