What other ride would you compare Mission Space to?

Is it like Spiderman over at Universal? Star Wars? or something completely different?

Well I haven't been on Spiderman so can't compare it to that. I don't think it is like Star Wars at all. With Star Wars you are in a larger area, on Mission Space you are pretty much in a small area by yourself. You can see others on either side of you, but since they warned not to look sideways I didn't. The focus is right in front of us and to me that is what makes it a great ride.

I'd compare it to a gravatron at a carnival or fair, but they added a video screen for you to watch a movie.

Missin Space is not like any other ride I have ever been on.

It reminded me most of the "Rotor". A barrell type ride that you stand against the wall and cyntrifical force holds you against the wall while the bottom drops out. In actuality you are sitting down watching a video screen, but it does hold you back against the wall and it made me feel ill like the rotor did.

It is a centrifuge in which the individual enclosed capsules, each of which hold 4 people, are on the periphery of a circle facing the center of the circle. the circle spins at a terrific rate of speed generating G forces on the body. Because you are in an enclosed capsule you do not see that you are spinning at all you only feel the pressure forcing you into the seat. You are advised to look straight forward at the screen which represents the window looking out of your capsule, so that you see the sky and space approaching as you take off.

I think it is not so much the spinning itself as it is the G force that affects many people, at least in my case. It caused my blood pressure to rise to dangerous levels and almost caused me to black out. I know I should not have ridden it at all, but as so many others here, I figured it was as close to going into space as I would ever get and I had to try it once.
I am glad I did but If I had it to try once over again, knowing what I know now I would not do it.

Anyway it does not really compare with any other ride in the industry currently.

I think that the first part, the take off, is kind of like a Gravitron. It has a similar motion and the centrical force pushes you back in your seat. I think the rest of the ride reminds me of Star Tours. It is basically a simulator ride. However, Mission Space is similar, but still very different from those rides. I only would use them as approximations of what the actual ride is like.

The actual mechanics of the ride may be similar to a gravitron but the sensation in your body is different!

I agree with the above posters that it is not like any thing I have ever felt anywhere anytime! :bounce:

I have never rode anything quite like it. I mean, the G's on liftoff and lunar slingshot blew me away. When the mission is over and you exit the ride, you have to get your "land" legs back. It is a definite MUST DO experience.

We had a centrifuge ride at the Space and Rocket Center here in Huntsville.

There was a star field and a a movie on the ceiling.

You were in a large circular room with reclining stand up seats in three rows similar to Alien Encounter.

As long as you kept your head straight ahead you didn't feel like you were spinning. You could lift your feet off the floor, but they were heavy and it was very hard to lift your arms up, they got so heavy.

However, we did not have the true simulator feeling that you get in Mission Space.

I LOVE the takeoff but the wild ride around Mars about does me in. It is a once per trip ride for me and I have to go do something tame afterwards like Spaceship Earth. I can't do a Mission: Space/Test Track 1/2.

Although this pales in comparison - you get the same feeling with the Gravitron - times 10 - with incredible special effects. You can feel the force pushing you back and my eyes starting watering - had tears streaming from the sides of my eyes. I got soooo sick, but it was worth it.
