What one image will always come to mind when remembering Katrina?

Is the little boy you guys are talking about the one who said "What if the hurricane comes back again?" He was matter of factly explaining how the lack of supplies was affecting everybody around him. He WAS extremely articulate and adorable, wasn't he?

We noticed him too! Very adorable. He was a natural on TV. I hope we see him again.

The little girl standing by the flooded car saying "Will somebody help us?"

Oh my God that just about killed me and MSNBC kept showing it over and over and over....

I think the images from the Convention Center will stick with me for a long time. Seeing the women holding her baby just losing it, seeing the life drain from the babies eyes, seeing a diabetic go into shock from no insulin, just the scene of people crying and sobbing. :(

I must have missed him. If anyone happens to find a video of him, please post the link. I'd like to see it.

A lump gets in my throat everytime I see that clip.

The scene that will come to my mind though is going to have to be areas that aren't shown on TV as much. Being from Eastern Jackson County, the pictures I've seen of my hometown and places I grew up will always come to mind. While looking on the internet there was a picture of an address plate from Beach Blvd. in Pascagoula--it was my grandparents'. I couldn't believe it. Another scene, is one of my friends mom and dad shifting through the mess of what was left of their house--just devastating.

The fact that I was there 2 days before it hit, on only my second ever trip to the area, and that I drove though a good portion of the area that was hit, that is, from Pensicola to New Orleans, on highway 10. When I left there a week ago yesterday, there was no thought to it coming that way. It was a bright sunny day, and the plane was less than half-full headed to Chicago. I think that will always be my memory, that I was one of the very last that area as it was before.

The picture of two babies sleeping with their arms wrapped around each other in one infant seat, waiting on a bridge to be rescued.

The mom crying because her baby was becoming lathargic and she couldnt keep him awake :sad1: I cant stop thinking about him. he was about ds's age........

A quick update on that situation.. A WONDERFUL family in Atlanta (I believe )have taken him and all of the children in.. :flower:

Really? That is wonderful. My sister told me about him then I found the clip of him on CNN and had to watch it a few times. I don't know why but I did. He just broke my heart. I'm glad someone has taken them in.

The radio station has taken a little snippet from that interview and is using it in one of the relief commercials. My heart breaks every single time I hear his voice. I just want to give him a big ole hug.

My image is a video of two children pushing toy cars along the ground at the Superdome - days after the hurricane, in those horrible conditions, they just wanted to play, and be children.

My daughter keeps asking me why this is happening, and I don't have any answer for her - how do these mothers possibly explain to their kids why they had to live through that?

The lady wrapped in an american flag blanket with utter hopeless and despair.

I will never forget the video of a rescue boat floating up to a home with a man and his dog and floating away with the man while leaving the dog.

Remember the pets thread

Seeing that along with a dog not being allowed on a bus killed me. I cried alot over that. I can't stand to see pet's left behind :(

The man who was holding his wife and had to let her go when the roof cracked. That is going to haunt me for the rest of my life.

Gods, that is going to stay with me forever. Its something I wish I had never seen.
