What one image will always come to mind when remembering Katrina?

I will always remember the aerial view of the Super Dome and the glistening (probably from oil) water surrounding it. :(

I remember one of the reporters interviewing this man, who was crying and crying. He said he lost his wife. They were on the roof and she was slipping off. He was holding on to her hand as best he could, but she slipped away. Her last words to her husband of 20 something years were, take care of the kids and the grandkids, then he said, she let go of his hand and the water took her away.

That was a terrible, terrible thing and I know that is only one of the horrible stories out there, but, the image of him talking and crying, just stays with me.

I think they said, they found his wife's body either hours later or the next day.

Just heartbreaking..

I'll remember that poor woman - holding her baby in her arms and screaming and crying because she couldn't wake him up because he hadn't had food or water for several days..

And I'll remember the smirk on the Presidents face during his new conference this morning..

Two images I will NEVER forget..

I remember that man. So sad. I will never forget him or the babies near dehydration. I did see a follow up on one baby that had looked extremely fragile in his mother's arm. He had a bottle & looked alert.

There is also the young boy in the SpongeBob shirt who spoke about the lack of supplies. He's bright, articulate & adorable.

I have seen this story over and over and every time I see that man I cry. My SIL said she heard they found her body too. I don't think I will ever forget that story. I'm on the verge of tears just thinking about it.

OMG he was a hoot!!!

I was actually thinking--that kid would be GREAT as a spokesperson for all of this. He needs to visit all of the leaders--he'll tell them straight!

I'll always remember those people walking into the Superdome and I was thinking they were walking to their deaths.

I'll remember the man who lost his wife too. That was a heart wrenching story to hear.

I doubt we've seen the last of him. Oprah will probably have him on her show.

I've been gone most of the day so I haven't seen this little boy yet. Hopefully Aaron Brown or one of the other news guys will show him tonight.

I thought of one more image that will always be etched in my mind......all those people on I-10, the group that finally just got evacuated. I think this was the spot Shep was doing a lot of reporting from.

That one and the two dead bodies sitting outside the Superdome. :(

The dead lady in the wheelchair outside the Superdome and the guy who risked his life to rescue the man in his car in raging waters. The massive amount of people waiting to get into the Superdome. The pit in my stomach over the whole thing.

The man who lost his wife will remain in my thoughts forever as well as just the shear devistation of it all. So many times this week I have just broke down for these people, I just feel so sorry for them and I've kept them in my prayers.

I will never forget last night (friday night) and Geraldo breaking down because he just could not understand why all the people at the convention center, showing the babies, had been forgotten.

The getting up this morning and seeing the military copters landing and taking off with people, and Geraldo just over joyed that the calvary had finally come! When I saw one image of about 8 helicopters just hovering, waiting their turn to land and load up with people, just finally got to me.

Is the little boy you guys are talking about the one who said "What if the hurricane comes back again?" He was matter of factly explaining how the lack of supplies was affecting everybody around him. He WAS extremely articulate and adorable, wasn't he?

The little girl standing by the flooded car saying "Will somebody help us?"

I haven't see this little boy either.

I believe I saw him on NBC--saw him during the extended evening news--and then our local station used that clip during their newscast.

yes thesurlymermaid--that is the one---the way he said, this is pitiful or something like that--it was like...he looked so young to know such a big word--and said it like nobody's business!

For once--I smiled instead of felt sad over something--almost like "you go, boy! Tell it!"....I was rooting for him. Felt weird.
