Hi we are going to be renting points for a stay at OKW for next December. So the member can start booking on 13th January :goodvibes

We would like to be 2nd floor or above with a view of something fairly nice and not closed in by trees if possible.
We will be Disney transport and possibly the odd taxi, as we won't be renting a car.
We are going to purchase the DDP so will get re fill mugs - and DH and I really love our diet coke so would like to be near a re fill station.
Our daughter will be nearly 4 ( will be using a stroller), and DH has a mild disability.
The pool isn't massively important as we are going in Dec so not sure if we'll even be able to use it!!

If I request HH would that just about cover the above? Can I request specific buildings or is it just a general area that can be requested? ( I know that requests are not guarunteed)

Thanks for any help :goodvibes

Claire :)

I would request HH area. As you know there is no guarantee, but you would have as good a shot as anyone. HH would allow you easier access to refill mugs, plus busses are frequent in this area. Also, boats to DTD are near HH.
As for views, not much can be guaranteed, in fact nothing. But OKW is a wonderful resort, lots of palms, golf course runs through it, plus many ponds and waterway. Hope this helps.
OKW lovers thread would be a good place to ask same questions. Those folks are more learned on subject than me. WebmasterDoc, Deb and Bill and dianeschlit Im sure would be happy to help you:thumbsup2

Thankyou I was hoping that a nice easy HH request would cover it rather than getting all comlicated about what area / building no etc!!

Thanks for taking the time to reply :thumbsup2

Bear in mind that most buildings do not have elevators at all. Second floor means walking up and down a flight of stairs with a stroller! You would need to request 2nd floor in Bldg 62, 63 or 64 in order to have an elevator. Those buildings are Miller's Road buildings not HH category. Also if you get 64 it's a bit of a hike to get to a bus stop.

Hospitality House is not a request, it is a booking category. If you book it, you are guaranteed to be in one of the HH buildings.

Your owner should probably request a room near the Hospitality House. It is a bookable category but it is possible that it is sold out (they go pretty fast). if you don't get that, pretty much all you will lose is easier access to for the refillable mug. I suggest you have the owner reqeust that category and if that fails, just keep in mind that OKW is flexible at check-in. Last time we were there, we were afraid of having a balcony that was too sunny (DH has skin issues) so the CM's worked really hard in finding a room that met all of our needs that wasn't a western exposure. While I do suggest you make requests, keep in mind that we find OKW the best place to work out room placement there and then at check-in. They will usually whip out the map and give you some options. If they don't, simply smile and nicely ask if there is anything else that might be available that might have more of what you are looking for.

Hi thankyou for all of your replies :goodvibes

I think I will definately ask for HH and as a pp said if its not available when we check in then I'll ask what is the next best option for us!
I do understand about taking a stroller up and down the stairs but the reason I will ask to not be on the 1st floor is because...... wait for it .... snakes :scared1:
I read a post on here once about how some people had found a snake in their 1st floor room that must have followed the mousekeeper in :scared1: Now I would poop my pants I am petrified of snakes. Yes I know extrememly unlikey to happen but..... I'm not going to take that chance!! I live in England and really - luckily for me - they are not at all common!!

Thankyou again for all your help, and Merry Christmas

We were just in bottom floor two-bedroom unit in building 26. It was in HH and the view of the lake and golf course was beautiful. We loved the location as we could walk to HH to take the bus without it going through the entire resort and then be dropped off at the first bus stop right next to our building. I never saw a snake while we were there, but I can't confirm that it doesn't happen. Have a great time.

We spent 1 night at OKW last week before checking in to BLT for 6 nights (decided in late Oct. to add a night on to our trip). We had a studio in building 62. I am quite surprised that bldg. 62 isn't in the HH category. We were so close to the HH. It was less than a 2 min. walk. Very convenient. However we arrived at the resort at 7:30 p.m. and were on the way to BLT via taxi at 8:00 the next morning, so we didn't get to take advantage of the location.

Can you get a guaranteed HH villa if you're not a DVC member? We used to be a member but not anymore and we had this once and are considering going back to OKW this spring.
