I can't believe I missed your thread here! Well, okay, I can, since I don't check the CB much.

Did you at least defend the Disney bags by saying they have never attacked you, unlike some other bags I know?

I can't wait to see your episode! Some day, I'll be able to point at the TV, and reminice "I knew her when she wore Crocs and carried a chicken. But of course, back then, we had to walk uphill in the snow..."

Are you kidding? I would love to be mentioned in one of my favorite trip reports!! And thanks for the congratulations i do find it funny when people say 'congrats', cause basically i am being congratulated for having such horrible style that a national television show felt the need to dedicate an hour of their programming to discussing it!

I am thrilled that you are happy to be on the show and I am very glad that you got the $5000 wardrobe and are pleased with it.

I wouldn't be at all! I think that shows like this nearly take the individual out of ourselves. The people I've seen on the show look fine before and they look nothing like themselves at the end. I do hope that you went on the show because it was something you wanted to do and not something you were pressured into doing. Don't get me wrong, I adore clothes and would love free ones! I could care less if anyone thought that I what I wear is "wrong."

Maybe I am a huge cynic because I work in TV and Features (and I find production people to be sometimes extremely rude), but seriously, if someone insisted that I wear heels to work just to look good, I'd shoot them. I have to walk around a studio lot often and it just isn't practical.

And my handbags. A portion of my collection happens to be Disney bags. I have a few that I just love and are cute and some are limited edition and signed by the artist. I'd like to see them pry them out of my hands!

Were you able to buy enough of a full wardrobe with the $5000? I am so friggin curious it just kills me. I don't think what I could buy here in L.A. would be enough to sway me to ditch my Disney t-shirts (which I don't wear to work.)

handbag lady, i work in TV production too! i think that actually made me enjoy the adventure even more (imagine being on a set for 4 days and not having to do any work!). i know there are some people that don't like this show because they think it tries to change people and dull them down, and i can't speak for others who have been on the show, but that was not my experience at all. although i can't go into detail about what my former wardrobe was like, i truly needed the help!

I've always wondered that myself. Did you get enough with the $5000 to have an entire wardrobe or do you just have a few nice things but no everyday clothes now? Also, Carmindy gives you makeup right? Does that come out of your $5000?

i think i have more clothes than i started with - they had to buy me an extra suitcase and no, nothing from carmindy or nick comes out of the $5000

How do you get to exactly $5000? If you go under do you get to keep the card to use at another time or can you go over a buck or two? Or do you just have to try to get as close to 5k without going over?

if you go over you do have to return stuff. i actually don't remember what the total amount was that i spent, but they do make you spend it all.

The people I've seen on the show look fine before

Sorry, can't agree with that. I've seen people on that show who actually shock me, not just in terms of poor clothing choices, but in how bad they choose to make themselves look.

People often look, for example, much heavier than they need to and the right clothes can take away many pounds. Why would you choose to look heavier when you don't have to? Women often look like tramps and unless that is your line of work, why look like that? If someone offered you a great haircut, would you really turn it down? I wouldn't!

Most often, it seems to me, that the people on the show do not know how badly they look (and the resulting negative perceptions people have of them) and most importantly, people often simply do not know how to best dress to play up their strong points and downplay their negative points. I guess I don't understand why doing so is such a big deal.

Alright - I have a question. This is about the deatils of the show - not YOUR show inparticular:

$5000 - do you get makeup? Do they buy it for you, or do you buy it? What if you want a new perfume to match your 'look', can you do that?

Im just curious about how they watch this $5000.
