Check out San Antonio News. My San Antonio.

What on earth is going on? It sounds like the lawless Wild West, why is it being tolerated... makes me very very angry:mad:

I lived near a town by the US/Mexico border for a while and I always used to be surprised by the apparent double standards when it came to the border being enforced. As outrageous as this is, it does not really surprise me any longer. :sad2:

ETA - Reading the comments from the article, it seems as though some people think the US approved it before it happened. That's not how I read it, but of course if that's the case then I see nothing wrong with it.

The British military has been know to cross over into the Republic of Ireland.

I bet you don't have any issues with US DEA agents going over the border into Mexico, eh?

and OP, it's helpful when you post a link to such articles, so we don't have google search for the story. Thanks in advance for future postings of links.

Scary, especially since there is an AF base right near the border in Del Rio Texas.
My BIL used to be stationed there and there were so many times that we drove over the border to go to Mexico and do some shopping at the towns on the border. Now I wouldn't go near them with an armed escort.
And my son is in San Diego at a Marine base. The kids on base have been told they cannot under any circumstances cross the border into Mexico with all the problems going on.

Our borders should be respected, as should all other borders. Crossing a border with troops is tantamount to a declaration of war.

Edited to add - this comment kinda changes our view, don't you think.

He said the incursion about a mile over the border took place over a neighborhood populated by many U.S. Customs officers who work at area border crossings — and that they knew what they were seeing.

My understanding is the U.S. military were informed,” he said. “I don't know what action was taken, if any.”

I don't. Chances are pretty excellent the DEA agents are coming back, not expecting to live illegally in Mexico, draining their economy.

Did these soldiers not return to Mexico?

Hmmm ... If the Mexican Navy had permission to fly over US soil I have no problem with it. Things are very dangerous in Mexico right now with all the fighting between gangs. That article also goes on to say the members of the Gulf Cartel (and others) have been trying to infiltrate the Customs and Border Protection agency and THAT scares me a whole lot more than a helicopter (presumably) chasing someone over the border.

Act of war? Hardly, but I've never been the hyperventilating type. This isn't Soviet bombers or Iranian terrorists making threats here.

I don't begrudge our neighbors to the south, long term allies and America's 2nd largest supplier of oil, a little tiptoe across borders looking for bad guys, especially seeing U.S. Customs and Border Protection knew all about it. I'm quite sure the Mexican government has reciprocated the favor on many occasions.

Some of the comments in this thread are almost as funny as some of those with that linked article.

I agree.

It wasn't an accident or oversight, I didn't post it because I don't think we're supposed to do so. If someone is interested they can go look, I try not to shove stuff in people's faces.

I wonder if they did have express permission FROM AN ORGANIZATION THAT HAS THE AUTHORITY TO GRANT SUCH PERMISSION.

Friends or not, according to the UN this is not allowed unless it goes through the appropriate channels... somehow I doubt it. We can't have people circumventing laws and rules set up for our protection regardless of why. Doesn't anyone else think the idea that we need another government to come in and save us from a drug dealer is alarming. I mean we are at war with entire countries overseas yet right here in the 50 we need Mexico to save us from one guy that's too much for us.... are they serious? What is going on, I have questions and I want answers... and I want them yesterday.

What's the beef?
In 2009, Gov. Perry clearly stated that he wants Texas (Tejas) to secede from the union. I don't think the state can survive on its own so he must surely want to rejoin Mexico. I guess those soldiers are just practicing pending the Gov's future action.:)
