WHAT?!? Mexico's military crossed our border???

If there was an agreement, we would know about it. It would be touted as "the United States and Mexico cooperate in war on drugs at the border". Surely the border agents would know about it so that they don't repel the Mexican soldiers. We have an unfortunate history if turning our backs on the wrong doing of our neighbors to the south, who have no problem sending their citizens here to prop up their failing government.

Please!! Why would either government feel the need to tell everyone about all their joint investigations?

Some of you are making a political discussion out of a molehill.

All I can say is that if American's really have no idea that this is a big deal then our educational system, especially our American Studies classes, are completely off the mark. What on earth is it that everyone else was learning before graduation? I remember a pretty big section back when I was a Jr. in HS on the UN, why it was set up and the issues it was intended to resolve. A pretty huge part was about boundaries intended to prevent border disputes. Didn't everyone else get the same stuff? What exactly did everyone else study? I'm kind of confused, I thought this was common knowledge, I remember it and I'm going back 20+ years. If we can't teach our society this stuff it's no wonder Math is a mess. There is no smiley in existence for what I'm thinking and I don't think it's cutesy at all.

I think we need one wearing a tin foil hat. Or can we get one that looks more important than it is?? :rolleyes1

LOL what was that movie with Mel Gibson, there was a scene where he walks into his house and his 2 kids and Joaquin Pheonix are all sitting on the couch wearing tinfoil hats. I hate it when names escape me. Now I more worried about that....

I didn't have a teacher who spent five hours with me.

Ok just for the sake of arguement, what exactly would you like us to do?
Invade Mexico, drop a few bombs and take out Mexico City? Impose total sanctions against Mexico.
yes I did have 2 years of social studies. I don't remember the part where it said we declared war on an allied nation without very good cause. Sorry, one helicopter warrants at most an investigation.
My education was pretty good, I just dont share your enthusiasm to turn Tiujana into another Hiroshima over this.

Maybe you should make a call to the White House, because obviously you know more than anyone else about this situation. But I have to ask, do you seriously think Mexico is trying to invade? Maybe that's why DD has been taking Spanish since 1st grade! They knew all along! It's a conspiracy!!!

Or maybe we could just declare war against them, since they flew into foreign airspace. Because we never do that. Ever.

Wasn't that the one were the little girl left all the glasses of water out?

I would really like it if people would just care a little, ask questions and hold people accountable.

I don't think anyone really thinks it deserves an invasion... that's ridiculous. There must be something in between complete apathy and war.

Really, is that what you get out of this. Ok, you are entitled to your opinion & I can respect it if you think there is no middle ground between a conspiracy theory and nothingness. But I do have to say you totally missed my thinking entirely.

I didn't have a teacher who spent five hours with me.

Neither did I. When I went to school I had 2 parents that thought I shouldn't be thinking too hard because I was a girl, they never met with a teacher and never looked at a single thing i was doing or did ever. But I managed to read anyway. Bizarre I know:upsidedow

I don't think I was apathetic. I looked up the article you mention. It was only a small blurb that I could find. I read the entire thing and I thought the Sheriff said the military (US) was aware of the incursion.

Who should I hold accountable? The Mexican government? Sorry, the article (and I'll admit that is all I have to go by) did not sound like a "duck and cover" moment. Am I going to call my congressmen or Govenor and ask what's going on, No sorry I'm not. Do I expect the US border patrol or the US military to keep me appraised of every operation they carry out, hardly.

All I can do is process the information and make a judgement call on how important it is. I read the information and personally the Nor'easter flooding the Jersey shore where I'm at is a higher priority. If that makes me apathetic, so be it. There are only so many issues I can get twisted over.

Yes, that is all I get out of this. You said you wanted to know why no one in charge had a press conference to tell you what was going on, felt the news was "scripted" and are tired of them dictating to you what they feel is relevant, whether or not you feel the same way, and that our educational system is failing because you learned all about this in junior high and no one agrees with you that this is something that warrants a breaking-news press conference from the White House and army tanks taking over border patrol. Really?

Why on earth would anyone overreact to something like this? Like I said before, American citizens are not told everything our government does or says, and they shouldn't. What do you want to happen to Mexico? You're acting like this is Pearl Harbor all over again.

p.s. I just noticed your location. Is that anywhere near the Mexican border??

Hey, if Mexico flies a Navy helicopter over the border to help keep crime that has spilled over our border down then I am all for it.

The gangs in your area are funded by drug money. Where are the drugs coming from? This is not a trick question. The drug money crossed the borders many years ago and that is more dangerous than a Mexican Navy helicopter.

Would we rather have one navy helicopter fly over US soil, or would we rather have the boodbaths that are going on in Mexico?

Is my reading comprehension waaaaaaaaaay down???
It appears that I missed the part where a cross-over into our air space became a border dispute. Could someone point me in the right direction?
