What makes you feel uncomfortable about driving?

Other drivers, going to places unfamiliar with, night time dark roads with no lights/not familiar with, narrow bridges with or without big cars or trucks next to you.

If I were still living in Detroit, I'd say road rage. But now it's animals, the idea of hitting a deer, moose, or bear terrifies me. I've seen what those wrecks can do to people.
I saw a Volkswagen after it hit a moose. I hope the driver was ok but the moose
and the car did not fare too well.

Since other drivers has been taken, I will say cyclists - you know the kind who expect you to defer to them in every instance even when they themselves don't follow the rules of the road. I am happy to share the road, but stop signs and red lights apply to you as well!
It makes me crazy when they want to be able to be both a vehicle and a pedestrian. Pick a lane!

Sorry but NO they don’t I hit one and found that out - he was at fault as I had green light and I never should have had come into contact with him but alas we did - my fault - around here they can do no wrong - I’ve seen so many of them get hit by cars run lights in front of the police nope the rules of the road do not apply to them nor do they have to have insurance for cars to even though they are on the roads just like cars and their bikes cost more than some cars they are treated special so now they don’t have to follow the rules of the road they should but they don’t

The fact that I didn't start driving until I was almost 50 years old. I try to stay very rural in where I go and avoid even small cities if I can.

I get increasingly concerned about nighttime driving, as I have noticed my night vision isn’t what it used to be.
 DH got his cataracts done early this year and it was game-changing for his night vision. It sneaks up on you and everybody gets to the point where “it’s time” sooner or later.

Good point - I think you are in MA and even in small cities here - there are deer running across the road at 10PM - in the main part of town. Just happened Monday night and it was a close call on on the way to the Pub.

I used to drive down 95 to work and there was a deer hit almost every week - I am sure its worse now.

Not too much. But, I would say driving in an unfamiliar large city -- sometimes street designs can be confusing and I hate looking stupid making a wrong turn, or any chance of impeding traffic behind me.

Yup - so was taking a turn and a kid on a bike going way too fast in city center on the sidewalk hit the side of my car.
He was not wearing a helmet. He was fine thankfully - but my car had a nice dent.
I have the video of it from the shop I was going to - he was 100% in the wrong. Its also illegal to be on the sidewalk and not wearing a helmet in that city. But I am at fault. He gets a new bike. I have a dent in my brand new car and higher insurance. Nice.

I have several friends that are serious cyclists, and they say the kid was wrong after watching the video.
Still they still seem to think they own the road and its the cars that are a problem. I always give cyclist a wide berth and still they are a problems IMO.

Motorcycles are another issue - lots of friends have them - but they want it both ways - they don't follow the rules - drive down the middle of the lanes in traffic, do break checks etcc.. and then complain when they get hit. I always give them a very wide berth as well.

I hit a deer (well, technically it ran into my front fender) at around 8pm on Main St. this summer. It was still light out. It was a little one, so only minor damage to my car, but I felt so bad.

Couldn’t agree more live it and feel your pain ! ❤️❤️

Overly bright headlights. Why are you blinding oncoming traffic?

I have a vehicle that I know has overly bright headlights. I am always being flashed because people think I have my high beams on. The added brightness is supposed to be a safety feature. While it certainly has increased my field of vision, I often wonder if there are any stats that might indicate a rise in collisions from oncoming traffic being blinded by today's new standard of ultra bright headlights.

I love my bright headlights I can finally see but I understand what you’re saying because I get flashed all the time and I understand their frustration because it does look like you have your highbeams on I did read an article that says that it is an issue and some states are trying to limit that because they think it’s causing problems I feel like they should take the highway is better so you can see the lines think it’s so faded you can’t see them

Driving in unfamiliar places, driving an unfamiliar vehicle, and finding parking in places with more limited options or narrow spaces are my basic, more primal, driving fears. I've got a lot of these issues in my life right now between travel softball, college camps/clinics, and college tours for our older one.

I also certainly have my share of driving pet peeves and anger points that can easily become legitimate safety issues, but it's a long list.

There have been lots of times I've had to slow down and wait for a car to pass because I can't see anything except their lights and I'm afraid I'm going to drive right off the road.

I know the feeling, but I think it's a losing battle. The industry, and those that grant the industry awards, all think brighter is better. So, now you have all of these LEDs and HIDs with tech to amplify their brightness and overall field of view. So, the focus is solely on the driver vs. other drivers on the road. It does certainly help my visibility as a driver, but I'd also be blinded a bit if my vehicle's twin were driving towards me on the other side of the road.

If that's the angle the automakers want to take, I think the next thing they need to do is work on windshield technology to help reduce the night blindness from their high-powered headlights. In the meantime, I'm just trying to adapt. I just bought new glasses and had them add the anti-reflective coating on the lenses to help reduce headlight glare and reflection.
