What makes O'hana so special???

My DS9 and I are going to WDW in April. I have PS for CP, Shulas, HDDR, CM, WC, 50's PTC, and Yachtsman Steakhouse. I love steak can you tell?

But I keep hearing about O'Hana's on this board.

What makes it wonderful. The food sounds good. But I'm just curious.

Everything about 'Ohana is outstanding. The food is absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is amazing--the restaurant is centered around a fire pit (where they cook the meat) and it seems like the warmth and glow of the fire goes throughout the entire restaurant. The view from 'Ohana is spectacular, it looks out over the Seven Sea Lagoon and into Magic Kingdom. There are also games for kids to participate in. They have a coconut race and a hula contest.

The restaurant is very laid back and relaxing, it has a great family atmosphere, but it's also romantic for couples. Please try 'Ohana--you will love it!

I spent the entire Ohanas meal eating the steak and pretty much nothing else. Even my picky 5 year old liked the steak. It is a little darker in there so the mood is very relaxing and quite beautiful. I also liked to watch them cook the food in the fire pit. The only thing I disliked was when they kept saying 'my friend'. Don't know why but it drove me nuts.

It really is a sort of combintion of everything. I have been 8 times now. The atmosphere is wonderfully Polynesian. The food is great though there is an occaisional let down with one item or another. The place is comfortable and it is great fun watching all of the kids activities. I go to 'Ohana on every trip. The only person who didn't want to go back was my mom but that was because she is thrifty and doesn't eat much so it wasn't worth the price for her.

Your DS would most likely love the coconut rolling and hula hoop contests they have at 'Ohana. The winner gets a good size handful of gummi worms! 'Ohana is one of my DS's (he is 10) favorite WDW restaurant. Besides the the games, he loves the attention the servers tend to awash kids with, and he thinks those huge skewers of meat they bring to your table are pretty nifty. Also, they dim the lights for the MK fireworks, and you get a wonderful display right from your table.

I have a ps for our first night (ds(8) and I) at Disney...the plan is to eat at O'Hana's and then walk out onto the Poly beach to watch Wishes...sounded like a magical first night to me! (Now, this is totally based on what I've read here, on the board - and I've never gone wrong in doing so!) Have fun!

Me, too TInkie.... I made a PS for our first night at Ohanas. We are arriving way to late to go to any parks..(3pm) so I made a PS for 6:20 so maybe we can get a window to watch the fireworks. I made these ressies based on what i read here.

I made our PS last March based upon what I read here, and the fact that our group all likes Asian inspired foods (the appetizers are Asian---wontons, honey-sesame chicken wings, fried rice). We were NOT disappointed. We were able to get a window table, directly facing the castle. About 30 minutes into our meal the fireworks began- pure magic. They staff was warm, and accomodating- our two boys (ages 20 months and 5) didn't care for the food, so hot dogs and fries were immediately brought over from Kona Cafe. 5 year old loved the games and gummi worms he got for participating. And the food really lived up to its reputation- the turkey was a bit dry, but they give you these great dipping sauces, so if your meat is a bit on the dry side, dunk it in the sauce and it tastes great! This was without a doubt, our favorite meal of that trip and we will be back.
