What makes La Cellier so special??

There might be a new up and coming restaurant but I don't think anything will be such a well kept secret as time goes on. So many more people love dining at Disney than they used to (most people just did burgers and fries lol)

Agreed. More and more Americans have become food enthusiasts AKA foodies. :goodvibes

I have thought it okay but never considered it anything special.

I believe it is popular because it's a 1-credit steak house inside a theme park.

Bingo! You've covered the big reasons right there. I think Coral Reef is now closing in on Le Cellier as hard to get for the same reasons.

I don't order steak, though. If I liked the specialty of the house it might be better.

Artist Point was a much better restaurant - and it costs 2 credits, so maybe it doesn't fill up as fast.

I agree. I like steak, and I thought it was ok at Le Cellier. But I won't go there now because I don't want to have any ADR hassles. I'd rather go to Artist Point anyway.

I remember five or so years back when Le Cellier was one of those best-kept secret, underrated type restaurants. It was fairly easy to get a table, even last minute. Now that the secret is out, I wonder what the next up-and-coming restaurant is.

I'd say that would be Kona Cafe. It's also a 1 table service restaurant that serves some good steak. But it's on the monorail line (or boat traffic) from the Magic Kingdom, so it's a little less convenient than an in-park restaurant. I think it's pretty fabulous for the money.

Le Cellier is a cozy restaurant with a friendly staff. We had an ADR for 11:15am on our last trip and arrived 15 minutes early as suggested. We were pleasantly surprised to find the staff singing the Canadian National Anthem. They were also very eager to share their history and culture.
The Mushroom Filet was wonderful and the Maple Creme Brulee was to die for! My husband enjoyed the Strip and Chocolate Whiskey Cake. Our family will definitely return in the furure!

Another vote for the Cheddar Cheese soup here, but all the food is great: we've never had a bad meal (in probably 10 visits).

Debbielou hits the nail on the head for me: the staff have always been exceptionally friendly. We always hear stories about exactly where in Canada they're from. They always keep it interesting. They meet all of my requirements for servers: friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient.

I know this part isn't exactly true, but it gives the appearance of being dark and quiet. It seems like it's just out of the rush going on outside.

And is it just me, or does LC have about the most attractive waitstaff on property? I know I thought all the ladies were very attractive and the Mrs thought the same of the males :lmao:

I would say it is the food and the friendly staff. IMO, you cannot beat Canadians when it comes to friendliness. Okay, I guess I am a bit biased.

The breads are fabulous, the cheddar cheese soup is the best and the mushroom filet mignon is "to die for". Top it all off with maple creme brule.

As for those who don't "get it", they are entitled to their opinion too, even though it is wrong.:rotfl2:

I like the cheddar cheese soup, and I'm don't consider myself a "soup person." I love the mushroom filet and the maple creme broulee is very good. Then there's the famous pretzel bread. My family usually orders something different whenever we go but the pretzel bread is one thing we all like.

Someone was asking about children in Le Cellier. My nephew is very low on the attention span and very high on energy, to the point I was worried about sitting him down inside a table service restaurant after being in Disney all day. Of course my family simply will not hear of not going to Le Cellier, but the servers have always been good at keeping him occupied.

Le Cellier is amazing. My last visit to Le Cellier went as follows:

Breadsticks.
App: Duck Two Ways.(Changed.)
More breadsticks.
Entree: Can't Remember. I think it might have been seafood of some sort.
Even more breadsticks.
Dessert: Creme Brulee Sampler.(Changed. Now it's just Maple, the better one in my opinion.)
*Wondering if we could ask for more breadsticks*
Departure.
*Thinking about breadsticks*
IllumiNations.(I think)
*Obsessed with breadsticks*
Departure of Epcot.
*Breadsticks*
Arrival at hotel
*Breadsticks*
Went to sleep.
*Dreaming about breadsticks*
Woke up.
*BREADSTICKS*
Became overwhelmed with cravings and subliminal messages about...
*BREADSTICKS*
*BREADSTICKS*
*BREADSTICKS*

*BREADSTICKS*

...Oh, man, I need some breadsticks.

P.S. If you've had better steak before, I ask: where did you get it? I question your taste buds.

I'll go on the "ok, but not worth the hype" list.

We like it, eat here if not every trip, enough that its on our "regular" list (less now that its a hassle to get a reservation, but I call when the window opens and if its available I'll book it). It used to be a great value (off the DDP), now the prices have gone up enough that it really isn't and I'd rather spend a little more and get a really good steak at a signature place. On the DDP its still a good value, since its a good meal with a decent steak for one credit.

I don't get the angst over getting reservations here and the people who keep trying - but its their time. I ask once, get it or not, and if not try something different. There are few restaurants I've really been disappointed in.

One of my favs! I can't wait for some cheddar cheese soup, pretzel bread and mushroom risotto! OMG this is some of the best risotto I have ever had. Yum Yum Yum!!

For me its all about the Pretzel breadsticks!!!:yay: Actually, on top of that, I love their steaks and the atmosphere is very nice....and then there's the Chocolate Whiskey Cake!!!!!!:yay:

For me it's the Unibroue beer - the best choice at WDW.

To Polypower, that was awesome.:thumbsup2 I know exactly how you feel about them!! Do you feel the same way about their cheese soup?
