I went to purchase before I fall because I missed it in theaters and let's just say snacks and all I would have broken even

ETA are there less pricey blu rays out there I started this search to see the blue ray differences

Basically, a Blu-ray Disc can hold more data than a DVD. So it can store a movie that's higher resolution than a DVD can.

You may already know this but if you don't you do have to have a blu ray dvd player in order to watch one. You can not watch a blu ray on a regular dvd player.

Thoughts...
  • Blu-Ray's offer 1080 resolution. That's 6 times the resolution or sharpness of DVD's.
  • Blu-Ray's also offer 4K resolution for some films. That's 12 times the resolution of DVD's.
  • DVD's and Blu-Ray's are slowly going away with streaming and cable service VOD service at 1080 and 4K resolutions.

I knew I was behind the times but wow well I already reserved a blu ray from red box to be picked up later so I well just watch that one and stick
To streaming after that

Something else to consider.... your audio. How are you watching your TV? Is it through those tiny speakers built into the TV? Upgrade your audio to a 2.1 soundbar. The large bass speaker will make the sound fuller. They say audio is 50% of the experience.

BTW.... DVD's, Blu-Ray's, cable services and some streaming devices now support 5.1 audio. Left, Right, Center, Rear Left, Rear Right and Bass! Some media are encoded with 7.1 or the new Atmos system. The center channel is great for my senior ears. I no longer need to turn up the sound to hear the dialog clearly.

Personally, hate seeing speaker wires around the room. So instead, I got myself a "sound projector". By bouncing the audio around the walls, I can achieve near surround sound.

I think that would bother the neighbors given that I live in a condo

The center channel means I don't need to turn the volume up as much. The YSP-1600 has a very tiny base speaker... but it does the job.
