what kinda paint

do you use on door frames? and what about a wooden fireplace mantel? and while we're at it the doors themselves - should they be semi-gloss? Anything special about them?

We've just repainted our walls & were gonna stop there but now that I look all the whites look HORRIBLE.

I would use gloss or semi-gloss, it's really your preference. You need to know if the original paint is oil or latex. If you paint latex over oil or vice-versa (I'm not sure), the paint will not adhere well and bubble and peel. If you're not sure, it's best to probably kilz first then paint. Go to a paint store and they should be able to help you. Have fun - trim painting is the worst.

OH NO! It's the WORST?!? We've never done it before - last house my mom or SIL did it for us. I thought it wouldn't be so bad 'cause it would go quicker. Maybe I'll just get the bleach out & put the kids to work scrubbing instead! LOL

The walls weren't oil so I'm just guessing that the frames aren't oil. THough naturally I'm not sure.

Don't go strictly by what the walls were, I think several years ago most trim paints were oil and walls latex. I'm not 100% about that but I would definitely ask someone at a paint store for opinions.

I've got to paint DS room, I'm trying to put it off. Santa brought him Dallas Cowboys gray & blue paint for Christmas. It would've been nice if he'd used some of his magic to paint the walls and the star for me. After the pitiful game they played last week, I'm embarrassed to paint it.
