We just bought a house and now I am looking to start to fill it up with stuff. First step is locating a good refrigerator with lots of room.

It must have an automatic icemaker, ice and water in the door and lots of space inside. In the rental we currently live in and we have a side-by-side that I am not too fond of, but I do know that more recent manufacturers have made side-by-sides with more space. I am interested if any of you have ther freezer on the bottom. What do you think?

I would love a sub-zero but can't see paying for it and just found out they don't do stand alones only built-in's.

Any adivce would be great and if you feel comfortable could you please mention the price. Thanks

I just bought a new refrigerator and I absolutely love it...

It is only made by sears. It has a bottom freezer with an icemaker, the top is a armoire design (2 doors) but the kicker is that it opens up into one space. You can place all the wide stuff on the shelves. It also has nice big door shelves that will handle 2 gallons of milk. You can open one door or the other or both. On the inside of the door is a water dispenser.

here is a picture...

zurgswife - I love that one - Is it Kenmore?? I think that is Sears' brand. I will look up the info on that one, thanks.

yup...it is a kenmore...and I waited 2 years until my old one died (well almost died :):)) before I got it and I absolutely love every part of it..

We have a side by side with water and ice in the door. It is too small, but we have limited space to put a refrigerator in my kitchen. We have an extra one in the basement--good thing.

We used to have one with the freezer on the bottom. It was a real pain to get ice cubes--which in our family is the main function of the freezer. I hated having to sit on the floor to find whatever I was looking for in there too.

The fridge pictured above with the drawer on the bottom looks easier to deal with than mine was. I wish I'd seen that one when I bought mine 2 1/2 years ago.

OK dmadman43 - What brand is it and where did you get it. it has some great features I never thought of. Please give me more info!!

We are also going to buy the Kenmore fridge zurgswife has. The freezer and ice seem pretty accessible since the freezer baskets pull out. I can't wait!

Do you have the stainless model? How do you like the finish? Is it really that hard to keep clean? Do you use the stainless cleaner that Sears sells?

Denae

It's big white and holds lots of beer

Wait that could be Norm from "Cheers" :p

Hey everybody!

Vera has one of those fancy, schmancy refrigerators like DMadMan.

All I need is this:

Speaking of which, open up that tap Sam, I hear a beer calling "Norm! Drink me!"

Samsung. Mine is sort of a "concept model" as a team I was on was involved in helping them develop it.

We have the freezer on the bottom model with only one door on top. I like it very much. DH was totally against it when we bought, but now he likes it more than I do! We have the door on the bottom instead of the drawer. It works better for me since I am short and would have trouble bending over and reaching the back bottom corner of the drawer. Oh, mine is a Kenmore also.

We have a Sub Zero (built-in) bottom freezer - looks good, but practicallity rating is on the lower side due to depth. Our spare (from our old house) is 29cu. ft. GE Profile Arctica side-by-side - biggest one they make, and DW wishes we could put it upstairs in place of the Sub Z. (doesn't match otherwise I would)

We just bought an Amana stainless steel freezer on the bottom refrigerator. It is the largest they make 25 cubic feet) and has a ton of room. It does not have ice and water on the door, but does have filtered water inside the door. The only ones that have it on the door are side by side and we did not want one because of the lack of room inside. The freezer is a draw that pulls out to allow easy access. We also considered the Kenmore one above, but went with the standard freezer on the bottom design. DW loves our new refrigerator because it is easy to find things. I like it for its room. We moved our old refrigerator out into the garage for soda and beer, but we now have enough room to keep all of our soda in the new refrigerator. Jay

We are getting a subzero delivered tommorow (side by side) that is 48 inches wide (had to go with that size as that is how the space was framed out). If I had my choice though, I think I would go with that Kenmore with the double doors on top and freezer drawer on the bottem. IWe looked at them in the store and they looked really nice.

I am hoping that this monster fridge I am getting will do more than just look nice, since it is costing more than my first car! LOL! I am worried that due to the lack of depth, it will not hold too much, but then things always seem to get "lost" in the back part of my old fridges.

Thanks everyone. Did any of you do research on the LG fridges with the defrost/freeze drawer in the fridge section and the jet freeze drawer in the freezer?

The LG can also come with a TV like dmadman43:D

We have an Amana but have been unhappy with it for almost ten years:( Bought it in 1985. I know that's a long time ago, but considering how long it has been faulty:mad:
