What kind of job do you do from home?

hmmm...tv retailer? my search came up empty. any other hints? lol

If I came up with the correct answer, One position you need to live within an hour drive of their facility in VA and the other position you need to live within certain counties in Florida

I also work from home for Arise, have been doing it for 3yrs now, while its not a get rich quick scheme it does help with additional income since hubby been out of a job since Jan. 2009. I'm currently servicing Disney dining and I really enjoy it pays about $8 per hour.

With three children, 1 in college, I'm always looking for other ways to make additional money.

Could you PM me about the Arise/Disney Dining job

Thanks :goodvibes

I substitute teach at youngest child's school. I have been doing this for 7 years. I have a teaching degree but never went back to work full time after having our children. Our oldest is 19. I love this job because it is flexible. I can work a lot or not. I also don't work summers or holidays. It is nice being on my youngest child's schedule. I make 90 bucks a day...not killer money but not bad.

This past April I also started working for a company named Idapted. I love this job. It is a work from home job and the only money I had to invest was buying a headset with a microphone. That is it. I do English instruction with students in China. You can work every weekday morning in the morning from 7 to 9:30 and Sat. and Sundays from 7:30 TO 9:30 AND evenings M-Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 EST. You basically sign up to work 30 min. shifts and you are only required to work ten 30 min. shifts a month to remain an active employee. Everything is done via the computer. You are doing set lessons so you are basically reading prompts, making oral correctins and written. We call them marked spots. SO it is MAJOR multitasking for each 15 min. interaction you have.

I even got a nice Christmas gift and card from them. :goodvibes I will tell you that it is kinda difficult to make it all the way though the process though. It is not an easy job to get. I think the stats say that a small percentage pass the stages to become an English trainer. However it is worth looking into.

I get paid twice a month direct deposit. What is nice about this job is sometimes I don't feel like working so as long as I go in 24 hours in advance of my scheduled shift..I can unsign my shift without penalty. Also, there are many times I didn't sign up to work and decide last minute to work and usually the shifts are still open. So it is fun to know that there is money there to be made if I want it. Sometimes at night I am not scheduled and I will sign up last minute because it is like a piggy bank in my mind....every time I work..I am adding money to my Disney piggy bank. At the end of each 15 min. interaction you see your payment. SO you know all along what you are making.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.

I would love that info also please!

I'm a SAHM mom of a 5 yr old and a 15 month old. I need to do some supplementing to our income. I've been thinking of a daycare at home but don't wanna be commited all day everyday. I think I may look into substituting. Anyone have any experience with that?

I subbed for 7 years and did enjoy it. Got tired of not knowing where I would be from day to day so I took a job as a Teacher's Assistant.:):)

You can work as little or as much as you want but you do need to find out what the requirements are. Where I live you need a 4 year college degree to sub.

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

That is why I only sub at one school. That would drive me nuts too...

Also, since I work at ONE school....I hardly ever get the morning of calls or the night before. I am visible so much that I am always being asked to work. :goodvibes That makes it nice too. Subbing is great for moms.

I just read the Arise FAQ and I imagine once you get into it, it might be ok (from the testimonials on this thread) but from an outsider..yikes..it sounds scary. $300-$500 a month start up fees? They require a dedicated phone line and headsets and even more..Arise will charge you $40 a month just for being an employee? Wow. It sounds cool..especially working for Disney..just the FAQ is scary so probably best not to read that.

I do KGB...I don't get rich off of it but there is zero startup costs and KGB doesn't charge me, they pay me. I only worked 27 hours in December, and I made about $100..not too shabby I thought! AND, you pick your own hours..work as much or as little as you want, just as long as you work eight hours a month you meet the minimums.

I am technical support for vipdesk.com We are a work at home phone based customer who contracts with other companies to take their calls. For instance, a major retail store has a contract with us, as do a few CC companies.

We are currently hiring. Check out vipdesk.com for more info.

I run a home daycare. I am a former teacher, and have chosen to stick with that schedule. I LOVE having winter/spring and summer breaks with just my kiddos! This is what I do to support our living expenses.

I also run a dog sitting business out of my home. I do this mostly on weekends and vacations, when I don't have my daycare kids. I make a good chunk of change each year, which really helps our Disney fund.

I have been subbing for 9 years now, and mostly at one school. I have become their "main contact". It's nice........and I dont have to worry about going in and looking at fire drill routes, finding the music room, etc. I have developed a relationship with those teachers and we can talk about our kids, grandkids, vacations........etc. I LOVE IT!!! Plus like the pp said, I know when Im teaching and I dont get calls in the AM at 6:00AM.

I was unsure in the beginning if I could get up in front of the kids and do it....they're just kids.........but I just do elementary K-4

I think subbing for older kids would be much less work, but not sure I can stand their attitude. LOL

I have also worked for @rise for over a year now with a travel company. (It's against their policy to discuss these things on boards, so I'll have to use a little code...lol. ) It's more money than I could go out in my own community and make per hour right now, and I do enjoy it, but I want to caution everyone who is looking for the D*sney line. I love D*sney more than most people and try to go once a year for 2 weeks, but I would suggest you really check out their work at home opportunity. Go to www.workplacelikehome.com and look around there. They ICs have not been treated very well with this client and I have even seen some let go for reasons that seem silly. Of course @rise treats every IC as a number, not an actual person. More like cattle...lol. So do some research and understand in advance what you are dealing with. I thank my lucky stars for this company, and I too wanted to do D*sney with them, but after a closer look, there are other clients within this company that are more suited to the WAH experience I'm looking for.

Could the RN's that responded to this work from home question PM some more info about their WAH position and how you got started. I have been an RN for 15 years. Mostly long term health care and some home health and I am interested in working from home.
Thanks!
