What kind of discounts do AP members get?

I am considering purchasing an AP so that I can get discounts. I have a few questions though.

Does everybody in your party have to be an AP holder? Can I get an AP discount on a package with only one person being an AP holder?

Are the room discounts worth paying the extra money for the AP if we plan on going just once that year?

What other discounts do AP holders get?

IMHO buying an AP for the hope of discounts is risky.

You get admission into the park for 365 and that is really the only guranteed benefit.

In addition you currently get 10% off at the World of Disney in DTD and 10% off limited resturants for meals. The best resturant option is 10% off lunch M-F at the Epcot table service places.

Room discounts can be found on www.mousesavers.com but there is no gurantee. If you are only getting one for the room discount, make sure you can get the discount first. You don't have to have the AP to make the reservation just to check in.

There is a sheet on Mousesavers that helps you calculate the prices out. It would depend on your length of stay and how much the discount is. You don't need the AP in hand to book the discount only when you check in to the resort. In my case I was staying 7nights so I was going to purchase a 7Day with park hopping anyway, the discount saved me a $70 dollars a night, and since I was the only one who had to get one it more than made up for the difference in price to upgrade to the AP.

AP $462.21

MYW w/park hopping $256.95 (discount price)

205.26 difference

I saved 490.00 on my room for the week.

So I saved 284.74.

Are you able to book 2 rooms with one AP, We would like 2 interconnecting rooms but I am unsure whether I am able to book both rooms together using the 1 AP.
