So,

I know I have seem may on here talk about going to the CAT scales to weigh, etc. Those scales (logically) are mostly at busy truck stops.... do yo generally call and check if it's ok to come on by? I don't want to just show up and create an issue or get in the way. It feels a bit intimidating to drive into "truck land" with everyone thinking where is this guy going with his camper.

I used to pull my diesel F450 and 40' fifth wheel into the Truck fueling lanes all the time, after you fuel and pull ahead, go into the fuel desk and tell the attendant you want to weigh your trailer, they will give you instructions, no problem

The ones I use have a speaker where you would stop on the scale. Just drive on the scales, stop slowly (stopping hard rocks the scales and can mess them up). Push the button and tell them who you are. They will say you are good. Drive off and park. Then go inside, pay and get your weigh slip.

It's intimidating at first, but they make it easy. If it is an actual CAT scale, there is an app where you can pay online and get your weights without going inside.
