should I expect to receive renting a home within 30 days of departure. Has anyone been able to negotiate a signifigant savings? thanks

It varies, when we rented within two weeks of departure we requested a price for 9 nights and we got a quote for what would normally be a week, so we got 2 nights free. One other time we got the townhouse for $100 all inclusive instead of $110. It's whatever that particular owner wants to do.

I think you should. Last year, I got a 4BR/3BA with a screened pool in a gated community for $480/wk total.

Basically, what I did is sent out a request for a quote to all the houses that met my requirements on www.vrbo.com (after checking out their availability calendars). I told them that I was looking for discounted last minute pricing and that if they would be interested in sending me a quote, I would be happy to look at it. If you don't do that, some will send you high offers and act like you're lucky to find a place at the last minute.

I got LOTS of offers (had a Windsor Hills townhouse with a splash pool offer for even less).

I did require that they accept credit cards (for my protection).

Good luck!

Depends on the owners. Some won't discount much, and would rather let the house stay empty, because they'd rather grow slowly with clients willing to pay full freight. Others will aggressively discount just to get the cash flow.

Sounds like a sound plan and good advice. What you got is what i am looking for. I will be down for 11 days with two of them on site at Universal. I am hoping to get a 4 bed 3 bath for about $750 total for the 9 days but just over 1 weekend

thanks for the input,

We agree with Brian Noble - it depends on what the homeowner wants from his home. Also depends on what you want - do you have specific requirements, or just looking for the lowest price?

my specific requirements are 4 bed 3 baths detached home with internet in one of the Formosa Garden neighborhoods. And cable/satellite. I don't need Granite or SS appliances or a 50 inch TV, I do without them at home and I can do without them in Florida. It doesn't need new furniture I just want it to be immaculate and not smell musty.

A spa connected to the pool would be nice, a privacy fence would be a bonus
so would a pool table
