What kind of digital cameras do you have?

I've had my HP Photosmart 3.1MP camera for about 4 years now. I love it but it's taken quite a beating (I often keep it in my purse as I take a lot of photos). Probably time for a new one soon, so I'm taking notes.

I like the HP product and I know how to use all the features now (took a while to learn), so I'm hesitant to move to another type of camera. (LOL have even considered buying the same one again, new, on EBay). I've had Canon and Nikon 35mm cameras before and liked them too. I'll have to check out the Olympus models as well. Thanks for the above tip about the memory card, that's a great idea.

I have the Canon Powershot A620 - and would recommend it to anyone. It's 7.1 mp, uses AA batteries, has a flip out LCD screen, tons of modes to help you get the shot... and it's very fast! I paid about $270 for it a few months ago.

i am a film slr user, but now for the past month, i am a digital user. LOL scrapping for 4.5 years and finally went digital!

after lots of research this was the camera i got. its a great thing, and it has the new processor in it...great camera. happy shopping!

Another Canon A620 user here. It's the perfect size, light weight, and takes awesome pictures.

I've only had it for a week, but once I saw how my pictures turned out when I printed them at home, I'll be a Canon lifer...

I have the Konica Minolta Dimage X50. I'm a complete camera idiot, but this one is pretty easy, and it's TINY! Fits wonderfully in your pocket, very quick to turn on, has a nice light rechargeable battery ( a must-have, IMO...those AA batteries in the Canon I have are heavy, my camera took 4 of them, and they constantly ran out...had to carry spares). Has a biggish screen for a camera so small. I love it!

I am adicted to digital pictures. I just got a Konica Minolta Z6 and I love it. I do a lot of cropping and editing on my pictures, and the 6 m-pixil has been wonderful. I upgraded from a Kodak (can't remember the name, had a 10x optical zoom) - that was a good camera. I only upgraded for the m-pixils.

The Canon A620 is one that keeps coming up and I feel myself drawn to as it has a lot of the features I'm looking for. I was wondering though, how those of you that have it feel about the batteries. How long do they typically last you? Do you take them out when the camera is not in use? Do you feel that 4 batteries makes the camera heavy? My 35 mm right now takes a lithium battery that lasts seemingly forever and it would be different to go back to AAAs.

I own the A620 and don't feel the batteries make it heavy at all. I use rechargeables and keep an extra set in my carrying case. As for lasting, I can't really comment on since I haven't had it for that long.

I ordered mine from the Circuit City website since there were so many recommendations here and plus all the customer reviews on the Circuit City website. I never saw the camera in person and I'm extremely happy!!!

I do love all the features, mainly the "My Colors". I took a picture of DD's cinderalla dress and with the vivid blue, it made the dress look outstanding, more true in color.

I gave my other digital camera to DD. I've taken some photos with each camera and compared the 2. Canon by far blows my other camera away...

..... I know I may be flamed over this but megapixels are not the end all mark of a good camera to me. I would look at what you are going to use the photos for and buy towards that. Dont by more megapixel then you will get worth out of. Does that make sense?

Not a flame, just a different perspective. Using the larger image size (more megapixels) allows you the option of cropping a very small portion of the original image. You may then enlarge it to 4x6 or even 8x10 and still have a good quality print. BTW, I have an original Canon Digital Rebel.
And as DiznEeyore says, The color reproduction of the Digital Rebel is somewhat disappointing. My MIL's Kodak Easy Share reproduces color much better that my Rebel. If it wasn't for Photoshop...... I'll look at an Olympus next time.

It may have had something to do with the weight of the camera itself, but my KM Dimage with the lithium rechargeable is lots lighter than my old Powershot with the 4 AA batteries (plus replacements, which you WILL need). I had to carry a camera bag with the old one, whereas my Dimage slips into my pocket or pack. JMO

This is just my opinion, but I would prefer lower MP with a better OPTICAL zoom. Digital zooms are okay, but you can't really zoom and crop without getting grainy. I currently have a 12x optical zoom with 6 MP. Previously, I had a 10x optical zoom with 4 MP. You can do great things with those.

Thanks. I'll have to keep that in mind for next time. I do love my camera though. I only use it for vacations and nothing exteme so I guess it serves my purpose. My last camera didn't have much of a zoom either and never had any complaints.

I had a Fuji A210 3.2 megapixels for 2 years but recently dropped it and broke it. No obvious signs of injury but it never worked again, wouldnt even turn on, so I just figured the poor little guy has massive internal bleeding...may he rest in piece...

So, after a couple weeks of mourning I went and ordered myself the one I had been seen last year a FujiE900, 9.2 megapixel. Boy what a difference the megapixels make, I am in heaven with this camera.

In local stores it was $500.00 but online with price matching at different stores I was about to get the price down to $300.00.

I use the tamer flat 369 zion. It takes great shots and the menus are easy to navigate. I have to admit it will take me some time to master it, but when a camera costs $50,000 it should have some bells and whistles.

My birthday present camera is coming out next month, the Canon S3. I was about to buy the S2, but my DH told me to wait for the new one, it's about the same price. One more month!

It basically was something I thought I wanted, but ended up not using. It takes real crappy pictures at night, so I never use it then. The camera is a little bigger then a credit card and a little thicker, so it is easy to just throw in my pocket and leave, which I like.

I do love my Fugi though and use it almost everyday.

Okay, I have questions about this too. I have a Koday Easyshare DX4530, 5mp. Its okay, but the thing that I hate about it is the delayed shutter speed, atleast I think that's what it is. Its when I go to take a picture, I have to push the button halfway and wait for the focus before I can actually take the picture otherwise they turn out blurry. And when I try and take nighttime shots, its far worse as you apparently have to hold the camera very still after the flash for the picture and I just don't hold still very well. I'm sure its just me. So, my question is, do any of these previously recommended cameras have this same thing? I had a Fuji Finepix before and I never had to wait for it to focus and I loved it, but upgraded for a few more mp. There's nothing wrong with the camera and I do like the software that comes with it, but I just don't love it like I want to. I am thinking I'll probably be looking for a new one later this year too. Thanks!
