Folks, it's Christmas week.
Each year I usually pick up a new Christmas CD (I like to be able to touch my music) but didn't this time. Nothing really caught my ear. I was hoping maybe you folks could tell me your favorites and I could still get one from Amazon to enjoy before going back to work in January.
Here are my three favorites that I have now. Tell me your top 3 and why if you don't mind. No playlists, etc. I want suggestions for an entire album or CD.
Artist/Title/Description
1. Chicago/What's It Gonna Be, Santa?/C is my favorite group and the reason I love this album is the band did a tremendous job on the arrangements with the horn section. It has 20 songs on it which is a large number.
2. Tony Bennett/The Christmas Album - Snowfall/Tony swings in high fidelity with an outstanding band that reminds me of Sinatra during his Capitol Records days with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. Vocally he doesn't have to hide - that smooth voice is all alone and sounds wonderful. I hate overmixed, dubbed, layered, filtered, autotuned vocals from many of today's artists. These are real.
3. The Carpenters/Christmas Portrait/This is more traditional and has many of the tunes I heard on the radio during the Christmas season when I was growing up. Karen has that low, distinctive voice and hearing these puts me in the Christmas mood. It has 21 songs.
Honorable mention goes to GLAD/An Acapella Christmas.
So tell me some of your favorites. I'd like to get a good variety to consider.
And Merry Christmas with blessings to all the DIS Campers.
