What kind of candy are you giving out for Halloween?

Who remembers getting apples with coins in them growing up? (Till the razor blades ruined it for everyone.)

We get in the neighborhood of 300+, last Halloween was about 150. So really not sure what this year will be like. We get the bags from costco; 4 chocolates, 3 sweets and 2 50 count boxes of fruit snacks. We also have playdoh, stickers, pencils, glow in the dark bracelets & necklaces.

When we used to pass out candy it was always candy bars. Now I fill up bags (with candy bars) for my nurses and receptionists I see weekly at the hospital. Bringing those bags in today. 🎃

Me and my daughter are spending Halloween at Disney, so my husband is in charge of candy. He picked out a mixed bag of Rolos, Peanut Butter Cups, Heath Bars, Milk Duds.

We are Trick or Treating this year so won't be passing out candy. Pre-kids we gave out full sized one year but said we couldn't do it again - too many kids!

I never heard of coins in apples. Plain apples, yes, until the razor blade scare stories started appearing. There were also rumors in the late 1960s of LSD being injected into apples by hippies.

I remember small paper bags with Halloween designs filled with loose candy, cookies, or other treats. But by 1970 or so there were warnings not to eat anything that wasn’t pre-wrapped by the manufacturer.

Since I live where allergies are an issue (and I've got them myself), I give out a variety...this year, it's...

Sour Patch Kids/Swedish Fish/Starburst - allergy free sugars
Reese's Cups/Hershey Bars/Kit Kats/Heath - allergy chocolates
Snack size Lays plain Potato Chips - allergy free salt (and for those who don't/can't do unnatural colors and flavors in their foods)

My house is very popular and the kids love to pick (I always give them 2-3 options).

I give money instead of candy.
Usually 3 dollars if I don’t know them. Five dollars if I know them like a neighbor kids. Ten dollars if family.

I live in a condo complex and we don’t get any trick or treaters. So, sadly, I don’t buy any candy.

I have some Skittles and Sour Patch Kids and plan to buy several bags of candy bars in a few days. (Too tempting to keep chocolate in the house. ) Always get some non-candy treats too, such as chips or cookies.

Expecting to give out more than usual because it’s Sunday and kids will go out earlier. (No regulated hours here; kids start trick or treating in daylight, typically right after school.)

I made up 70 bags. Each has a mini kit kat, reeses PB cup and plain hershey bar. I still have enough enough to make 10 more bags, just not the same assortment. If we happen to have a ton of kids we can either shut off the lights or just go the junk I always have on hand for grandkids. So fruit gummy things, chips, cheese its or at the end of the list lollypops.

When I first started looking at candy prices, I too was thinking give full size bars from BJs. But then giant had the snack size bags $ 2 each, so candy this year cost about $25.

We bought snickers, m&ms, 3 musketeers, baby Ruth, almond joy and butterfinger. We had also gotten nestles crunch but my son got into it. For some reason I had a craving for smarties so I bought a bag of them yesterday and took a few out for me. Weather looks good for Halloween so hoping for lots of kids.
