Texas: the state where it's really, really hot, and you have to choose between being an Aggie or a Longhorn, setting off a whole turf war everytime you encounter someone from the other camp (at least during football season, that is).
(Not native to TX, as you can tell, but trying very hard to adapt.)
Actually, isn't Florida the State of Disaster? Or the State of Emergency? State of Evacuation? keep hearing the governor saying these things on the news.......
-new jersey...the garden state (but i don't understand why. there really aren't any gardens. how about the Boss State )
-kentucky...the bluegrass state (but the grass ISN'T blue!! i think a UK fan must've named the state. How about the redgrass state for the UL fans?? )
why have i lived in two states with really weird nicknames??
Indiana -- Hoosiers (as in Hoosier Hysteria) The Crossroads of America
Nebraska -- Corn Husker state -- The Good Life (motto) Little known fact -- Omaha is the American Indian word for Land of Road Construction.
Florida -- The Liquid Sunshine State A day without a Hurricane is (Like) a Day Without Sunshine
